Got a call from my FFL today...
My baby came in.
Anyone have advice for her first bath or meal (with me)? I'm so excited. It's just like being a little kid again.

Well, first I would check the paperwork on the bundle of joy to make sure it's yours. ;)
If it's dirty when you get it, use whatever gun solvents you have handy to clean it. If you have no cleaning gear, you can "build your own" at www.midwayusa.com, just make sure the threads match on the pieces you get.
Most folks prefer Hoppe's Number 9 or BreakFree CLP. I mainly use BreakFree, but I have a jar of Hoppe's I still use occationally.

The ruger 9x series autos are pretty bullet proof. They may be a bit on the large and heavy side, especialy since the market buzz today is so dominated by CCW compacts.
No worries. It's built like a tank, and will eat +p ammo all day long, and ask for seconds.
It's a good tough no-nonsense gun. If you have hands that tend to the medium to large side, you'll be happy.

For the first meal, I recommend a buffet.
Lots of copper jacketed lead of various sizes and weights. Feed until unable to stand.
Repeat as soon as poss:D ible.

Congrats on the new family member!
After initial breakdown and cleaning, go out and buy as many different kinds of ammo that you can find/ afford and go shoot the snot out of it! Find out which ammo works best for you (my KP97 loved Wolf...go figure) and stick with that.
Here's to many happy years together!

I guess I got lucky:
It has had one (1) magazine fed through it. The previous owner bought it as a nightstand gun, and shot a mag through it to make sure it functioned. His wife found the recoil to be too much, so he traded it in for a smaller chambering.
Long story short, it was less than $300 shipped, and has box, papers, etc.

While Ruger autoguns (except the Mk 1 .22) aren't my cup of tea, I've got to admit that it was a P90 that changed my mind about Ruger making utter crap auto pistols.
When I went through a regional police academy back in '94, one of the guys in the class had a NIB P89 that we soon called "The Crunchenticker Linestopper". It seemed incapable to function through a complete magazine with factory namebrand FMJ 9mm. Having no other experience with Ruger autos, I decided, based on that single anecdotal passive observation, that Ruger may be a fine revolver maker and decent rifle maker, but that they couldn't make a functional autopistol.
Then I shot a friend's P90 .45, and just couldn't get the damn thing to jam. I'm not a fan of DA autos, but it had an acceptable trigger, and sure was stout enough. It had okay accuracy. But the main thing was, it ran great. I since have shot some others, and know sever folks who swear by them. I'm more mature now than I was, and know better now than to judge an entire company's line based on a single lemon.
While I don't especially want one, the P90s work. And those rubber stocks must work really well too; why else would Ruger continue to put such ugly things on their pistols!?! :) :D

Obviously jealous, LOL.
I have a P85 (fore runner of all the P series) and it still shoots as fine as the day I bought it.
Nothing like an H&K....or a Glock, LOL.
Ruger is a REAL gun.:D

I bought one a few years back.
Unstoppable and very accurate (at least mine is)
Built like a tank.
The SA trigger pull is way too light for my taste though.

That reminds me that I have Ruger in .40 that I need to pull out and put to some use.

congrats. i had a p90 a while ago. thing ran like a charm but it did get a little gunk and rust built up in the firing pin channel so it started delivering light strikes after a few thousand rounds and several years in different climates. gunsmith cleaned it out and that solved it. you're not as likely to experience the problem as it looks like you've got the stainless model, but it's something to keep an eye out for. bet you can't break it. have fun.
