To some men, public servants are merely armed baboons protected by game laws. The baboons know that and strive to render those men harmless by restricting the use of defensive tools. That is why even hunting rifles aren't safe from the likes of Schumer.

Wording change suggestion.
"public servants" to "bureaucrats."
Grammar police: "others" guns

Thanks, Bogie. Fixed the typo. I'll keep "public servants" for the irony.

Oleg, "public servants" has a semi-positive connotation. A guy I work with is mayor of a STL municipality - he sees himself as a public servant. At the same time, I see a bit of the "we know what's good for you" in him...
"Bureaucrat" is negative. Plus, consider the audience - all of the audience. There's a reason why folks use simple language on billboards. I think it'd be stronger.
IMHO, sarcasm doesn't work all that well in this instance.

I like the poster. It addresses a pet peeve of mine. Hunters that believe the government will never come for "their" firearms.

Aye, theres an unfoirtunate truth.
I like the message but the gun looks miniature at first, like a toy.

Perhaps quotation marks around servants? Public "Servants" seems much more like the reality.

I like the message I think you are trying to send but, I do not like the semantics.
"public servants" to "bureaucrats."I know quite a few public servants (in the civil service and military service) who have tamed quite a few men including those who were hunters of sorts (in that they were predators) such as: terrorists, rapists, murderers, poachers, smugglers/pushers, peodophiles, robbers, muggers, kidnappers, etc. They (the public servants) actually hunt the preadators as a service to the public and, too many times they are wounded or killed in trying to render such service to the public. In other words, the public servant, military or civilian, often takes on the guise of the hunter and tracks down dangerous game himself to protect you, the public. A truer public service cannot be accomplished.
I too think bureacrat fits the bill much better. Those who are truly public servants actually serve the public and do not betray the trust that has been given to them. There is no need to belittle those who remain true public servants, is there? People in government positions of any sort become bureaucrats once they forget that they are "public servants". I would think the word bureaucrat better describes that which you aim your shot.
All the best,

+1 Glenn. There are still quite a few true public servants in government service.

It's a nice poster, but the wording makes it only applicable to a small portion on the hunting society.
While I enjoy hunting deer, hog, and birds, I can't really call myself a "dangerous game" hunter.

It is a niche audience poster.
I might use "beuraucrats" after all...

I like it.. Was wondering if you'd consider using more of the right side of the image for the wording..

To me it seems to reinforce the "they don't want my hunting rifle" mindset. They will focus on the second statement and thump thier chest some more.
Hunters will not see it as a political statement.

Oleg: your revised version is much blunter and to the point. I'd opine that, in posters intended for a larger audience, concrete is better.
If the argument in a poster/flier is too abstract/ideological, then we end up preaching to the choir rather than converting fence-sitters.
We could probably run a whole 'nother thread on effective/ineffective ways to address the "so long as I keep my duck gun" crowd.
So, for the fence-sitters, I believe "simple=good".

Some people think that firearms are evil.
Some people think that hunting is evil.
What do they think of your "hunting rifle"?
It doesn't affect them when either are restricted.
Why should they care about your rights?

Oleg,
I like it better. It addresses hunters directly that is good. It is more to the point, that is also good. Yet I still think bureaucrat would fit better, even better than politician. We have quite a few politicians who are not made at all nervous by our RKBA, in fact some of them are on our side. They are the good guys. Bureacrat, on the other hand, has a dictionary meaning that indicates a person who is a member of a bureaucracy. Bureaucracy has a negative connotation, as found inn the dictionary - 3 : a system of administration marked by officialism, red tape, and proliferation. That pretty much describes the type of government who would try to take away our RKBA.

wow... it took 7 posts before we could get back to the spirit of much of the board: hunter-bashing...
you fellas must be getting slower in your old age... just a month or two ago, the second response would've done it...
agree it should read 'crats, and not public servants for the reasons bogie pointed out - 'public servant' is a positive connotation, and the other is not...
and the 2nd rendition really hits the mark.

I like the second one better. It is a simple clear message.
The first one was good, but I like this one better.
