I'm looking to mount a scope on my M48 and I'm hoping for some advice about good scope mount options.

I prefer a standard eye relief scope option, so scout mounts are out.

I've heard of Iron Elite and looked them up. A little expensive, but I'm sure it would work. Are there other good options out there? I'm open to learning about both tap & drill options and non-permanent-alteration options (like Iron Elite).

Personal experience with any method is appreciated.

Thanks.

You do realize that in order to clear the bolt handle on a M48 your scope rings are gonna have to be VERY tall unless you plan on having the bolt handle turned down that little bend in the M48 bolt handle isn't nearly enough.

I've got an almost pristine 48BO but, I have been thinking about a scope. I don't generaly think a lot of Scout set ups, but I may go that way. The Iron Elite sits up in the stratosphere and seem funky to me. After about a half century of shooting it has finaly dawned on me that not all rifles are meant to be scoped.............Good luck, Essex
