Academy Sports shocker (GOOD THIS TIME)

Dropped by our local Academy Sports tonight and what did my little eyes spy but an honest to by God Bushmaster M4 profile, Full On Evil, Bayonet lug having, Baby killin' rifle in the gun section. Collapseable stock at no extra cost. All this for $799.85 :what:
I am so used to complaining about or hearing complaints about chain stores so this is a nice turn of events. Good price too. Support your local Academy. If it was an A3 I may very well have bought it right there.

All the guns I currently own have been from the local Academy. I really like the service, and it's a really all-inclusive place. I recognize the most of the employee since I frequent the place quite a bit. Quick service too. In and out in 15 mins. (including the filling out of forms and the usual disclaimers they tell you) for a gun purchase seems pretty good to me. They do the little escort thing, but will hold it for you until you are done shopping and they will let you buy ammo at the same time too; I don't think Wally World allows this?

I'm pretty sure that $799 is regular price too. At least I know I've seen it at or lower than that before there.
I love the Academy Sports stores "near" me to a point where their presence is going to be a significant factor in deciding where I'll try and settle down and start a career. Ok, maybe it's not a #1-3 criteria, but it's still going to be a factor.

Wal-mart will let you buy ammo at the same time, they just walk you out to the door. I bought a Savage 7mm Mag from them for a good price.

Hey, rlltdjpr!
ROOOOOLLLLL TIIIIIIDE! Are you a student at UA?
Are you referring to the Walmart on Skyland? They never walked me out. Sometimes, they even just handed ammo to me while I was still shopping and paid for it at the register.
And to keep it on track...I think there's going to be a new Academy on Skyland by May, IIRC.

Oh yeah. Significantly lower than Walmart WWB, and they keep a good stock, unlike Walmart.

Dang Right, Roll Tide marclbucla. I am a UA student; just got back from that new range in Oakmulgee WMA, it is so nice to have that close by. I was saying that Wal-Mart walked me out when I bought a rifle and ammo, not for just ammo. That is great news that we are getting an Academy, but unless I stick around for grad school, I'll probably be out of here by then. Untill then, I guess it's wal-mart and awfully over-priced Woods & Water.

I noticed one here too, in camo. There also the first chain store to START selling handguns. They sell winny 5.56 mm (not .223) real cheap.

I love Academy; certainly the best and most pro-gun sporting chain I've been to. They started in Texas - probably doesn't surprise anybody!

There's always the locations in the Birmingham area. It's worth the drive, especially since there's a Costco right there and the FOP Range relatively nearby in Pleasant Grove.
What's the name of that range you just mentioned?
