What gun fits this holster?

I picked this holster up with a box of miscellaneous stuff and have no idea what it fits. I took the pictures on a paper cutter and the grid you see is ˝” squares. It hasn’t been used enough to leave a profile of the gun inside so I can’t even tell if it’s for a small pistol or revolver. On the belt loop it is marked “Marco”, “NYC”, and “10013”. If you can tell me what it fits and possibly what it might be worth I’d greatly appreciate it.

A Google search on Marco Leather Goods produced
Marco Leather Goods, 320 5th Ave, (212) 643-4407
I didn't come across a web site, and they aren't listed in a Google search for "holsters." There is a Marco ankle holster listed on GunsAmerica, so at least at one time they made (or branded) them.

Sounds like an excuse to start buying guns till you find one that fits.

Hahah, that is the best advice I have heard when it comes to a unkown holster :D

By the bulges, I'm guessing it's a revolver holster. Looks like a 2.5" K frame size gun if I had to toss out something. Looks like by the size and shape of it, the strap goes over the grip rather than the hammer so that the gun doesn't rock back since it open to the rear to facilitate the draw. That's my best guess.
IOW, I don't know. :D

Looks to me like a J-frame hammerless snubby would fit it. Like a S&W 642.

Thanks for the replies. I'll see if I can stuff my Model 36 in it and take a picture when I get the chance. I'm confused by why the thing would have a belt loop on one side and a metal belt clip on the other.

Maybe to wear OWB and IWB on the right side?

Yeah, that one's obvious. You can wear it on the belt or IWB.

Looks very much like the Colt Python holster I got when I inherited my FIL's Python. That holster had been on duty on a police-style gun belt.

Here is a shot of the holster with my Chief's Special. It is a very snug fit and there's no way the retention strap will reach across to snap. Assuming this is duty gear, what's smaller than the Model-36 that would still be a popular LEO weapon?

I've got the same thread going on the Revolver forum since I don't know what this fits and figure I'm addressing two different audiences. Hope that isn't a violation of any posting rules.

Really, the thread belongs in Firearms Accessories forum. Perhaps in Handguns/General. However, since the threads have gotten some responses in both Autos and Revolvers, I'll let it go this time.
