Can you shoot shotshells through a autoloading pistol, and have them feed like a regular 9mm bullet?

A friend shot the CCI shotshells through a Glock 19 - one shot and then jammed.

Also, how about a title that is relevant to the question?

You can shoot but their not gonna feed. Why would you want to shoot shot shells anyway. Please don't say for SD

No, i was thinking about using shotshells for snake killing (only if necessary) out at the desert property i have in Arizona.

Best platform for using snake shot is a revolver. Semi's have feeding issues.

Buy yourself a good pair of snake boots. I wear them when out bird hunting. Sportmans Unlimited has them for $99.

I've shot the 45acp shot shells that are made from extra long brass which is crimped on the end and not had any problems. It's been a long time though so I don't know if they're still made that way.

If you put a very light recoil spring in the gun, it might feed shot shells, but the recoil force wouldn't be near enough to cycle the gun with any sort of reasonable stock spring.

This is another reason I prefer revolvers in the outdoors. Autos are combat weapons, for combating humans when you don't have a rifle handy. They're not snake guns. However, I've killed snakes with an auto pistol. You just have to place your shot. ;)

Shot shell loads are better suited for revolvers.

You just have to place your shot. ;)

That's everything :)

I've got an old Norinco Mdl. 213 Tokarev (9mm) that feeds them just fine. I wouldn't count on one of my "better" guns to feed them, though.

I use my Taurus wheelgun for that purpose. They will never be reliable in an autoloader.
