Red China shoots its own for protesting.

I think someone should get the villagers and other oppressed people
together and start to fight back against a gov that abuses them so..
Oops wait a minute, that already happened back in 46 or so didn't it ?
Maybe they need another Mao with the opposite ideology. Come to
think of it, this sounds a lot like what happened down in NO during
the Katrina tragedy..or more so the Civil Rights Movement in the 60's.

I seriously thought with market reforms and the beginings of autonomy
that China was heading in a positive direction away from communism.
The fact is, communism is not the issue. It is greed, corruption, and tyranny.
The government is strong and has all the guns.
When the population gets angry about theft of their land the government shoots them.
This needs to be shoved in the face of the gun controllers.

You may talk of greed and corruption being the the reason, and for valid humanity reasons it is, but it still is the tyranny of the system of an oppressive marxist government that makes this happen.
I know that several of you here feel that the great economic changes are "freeing" China, and then this usually rolls into an argument to which I now refrain from going into on The Highroad for reasons I won't go into, but China's great cities versus what happens inside to everyone outside of them can be pretty different. China's single party has done an excellent job of showing a great face to the world, but not much has changed inside yet for the many who are not a part of the second system. It is changing yes, but many will still die and disappear under this regime for sometime until it does.
Human life is cheap when said victims can't shoot back, freely assemble, speak freely, use economic actions, nor even farily vote. Keep your head-down and just be glad the government is giving you an opprotunity.

Greed and Corruption = Tyranny = Oppressive Marxist Govt
Communism is by definition Tyrannical and Oppressive. It puts all the power in the hands of a few and has no means of checks or balances.

I'm surprised I was able to see that link to yahoo... most of those stories get Chinawalled from behind the red curtain for me. (I'm in Beijing).
I said it before, China can fall apart at any moment. These protests are not isolated events. I'm surprised news of this one got out. The gap between the haves and have-nots has become more like a continental divide. Once more villages get wind of what's happening in other villages, movements may begin. History repeating itself, and only 1 generation after the last time it happened (the People's Republic of China was offically established in 1949)
This will be interesting to see how it plays out. I just hope my wife's visa gets approved before the Chinese SHTF! Come on USCIS, please hurry it up for a guy who's taking all the legal steps to get his wife over to the US with him instead of sending her to Mexico and having her run across the border!

I don't see things getting better for the "have nots" any time soon. There is an awful lot of history with an awful lot of bodies piled up that got their govt. where it is today. Mao killed at least 8,000,000 during the "cultural revolution" with out batting an eye. Things have gotten better for the govt. these days in terms of their ability to tightly control the country. They not only have the guns, they have the money, too. The tacit approval of their "trading partners" of their way of governing doesn't hurt either. We can hope and pray the people rise up, but again, there is an awful lot of history here. BTW, how's it going in Tibet, these days?

They say the lifespan of a communist tyranny is only about 45-70 years. The Chicoms are coming up on their final days. Though they may squeeze a bit more out of it because their old men live longer than the Rooskies.

Looks like the People's Liberation Army just liberated a few more (from Marxism).

I don't understand the problem here. Property is theft, so what those peasants were doing amounts to using violence in the commission of a crime. Like it or not the death penalty is the law of the land in China so those peasants were simply punished according to the will of the proletariat. I hope this will serve as an example to deter other peasants from taking up reactionary attitudes in the future.

My wife is from china, and she doesn't believe 1/2 of these stories. I guess they did a good job at making her believe this stuff. She always points to America's problems instead. I will admit, we have a hell of a lot of problems here, and many promises made by our govt isn't kept. But, at least they aren't doing crap like this.
I can go out on the street corner w/ a sign saying I dislike the president (or whatever politician) here. But, just try that in China. But, she won't listen to me...

I hear you, Shipwreck. They did a good number on my wife as well. She won't listen to any of the negative stuff about the Chinese government either. Total media control by a government is a very very powerful thing. She's just starting to get her arms around the idea that free speech is OK in the USA (and though some may dispute that claim, the media in the US are a heck of a lot more free than any other country I can think of)

On another note, these types of situations are exactly what the writers of the 2nd Amendment intended to help prevent.

"Political Power Comes From The Barrel Of A Gun"
Chinese people are forbidden guns for precisely that reason.
