The action on 48s is slightly shorter, bolts are not interchangeable. 48's barrel length is shorter. Stocks that are made for the 98 will not fit 48s.

All 48s are post war.

It's early, that's all I can think of right this second.

The M48 has an a groove cut in the barrel for the extractor, the 98 does not.
