Would it be hypothetically possible to break skeet targets with a .454 revolver?
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT MY IDEA. A FRIEND OF MINE CAME UP WITH THIS, HE KNOWS EXTREMELY LITTLE ABOUT GUNS.

Moving?
Seems like a BIG waste of money.
Static?
Sure, why not.
(I don't know why you wouldn't use 45lc cowboy rounds, and save the expensive rounds for hunting or plate dinging.)

Is he shooting or using the gun as a club? I think the target would break either way. ;)

I would think that with a 454 you could also break the skeet target thrower!

hmm... I don't think the machine will be able to throw the revolver very far, maybe you could get stiffer springs.
And how are you going to know if you hit it?
Maybe you should try an .38 airweight or one of those NAA things.

You mean if the clay pigions are thrown by a machine? Yes, but you would have to be a very good shot to hit them.

There are ways to handload shotshells for large revolvers. I am not sure what donor case you would have to use for a .454 but it can be done and I have heard others have done it.

Maybe a shortened 410 or something?

Yet me say that IF you shoot at these in the air, it had better be with shot shell loads. Remember....KNOW YOUR BACKSTOP. I'm sure you'd hate for someone a few miles away to end up on the receiving end of one of your bullets (same goes for shooting treed animals with rifles...not what I personally would reccomend in most cases).

clay pigeons are designed to break when hit with *birdshot.* if you can hit them with a 454, they are going to break quite well.
but as others have pointed out, the problems with pistol skeet have nothing to do with the clay - it's all about how well you shoot and how much land you own.
