How can you tell if a 38spl can handle +P ammo??

I'm thinking about one of the 5 shot Rossi snubs.

The Rossis are not rated for +P, or at least the older ones, M68 and M88. However, they will handle a light diet without a problem and I carried mine with P+s. I did shoot a lot of a handload that is just over standard pressure, therefore making it +P. I have a M68 now that shoots it fine, 5.0 gr Unique behind a cast 158 SWC. My old M88 had at least 500 rounds of it through that gun as well as a few fire breather handloads involving a very accurate Speer 140 gr JHP and it was tight when I sold it.

I don't plan to put all that many through the M68 I have now. I have a Taurus M85 that's +P rated that I carry from time to time. I plan to use the M68, which is a very accurate 3" version, for an outdoor gun and it'll usually be loaded with target wadcutters, but I'll have the 158 grain load as a hot load for it. That little fart shoots those wadcutters into 2" at 25 yards and the hot load into 2.5 inches. That's a good inch better than the 2" barreled M88 or my Taurus does. I think it's the longer sight radius. I like it, though.:)

What year was it made? If not for sure call taurus and they can help, they handle the Rossi guns now. Goodluck.
