Can NFA items be easily exported to countries where they are legal?

This question might be a bit outside beyond the knowledge of this forum, but THR never ceases to amaze me, so here goes:

I was noticing that Auto-Ordnance catalogs full-auto post-'86 tommy-guns for "Law enforcement and export only". I don't imagine too many police agencies Stateside are buying up Thompsons, but it's the "export" part that interests me.

Let's say someday down the road I land a job at some mining firm in Jabberwockistan, and local firearms laws are pretty lax, and/or I have powerful buddies in the Big Palace on the Hill. Can I just whip out the credit card, make some long-distance phone calls, and have suppressors, Lightning Links, and other such gear mailed to me from the States by international carrier?

Or would it require having some official importer/exporter in Jabberwockistan to establish business ties with, say, Gemtech, and then follow the process from there?

This is assuming that there's no arms-embargo on Jabberwockistan at the time.

I believe I've seen postings with reviews of Glock 18s, suppressors, and the like in civilian hands, from forum-members living in the Phillipines, etc.

Completely idle question, but was just wondering. Thanks for your time,

-MV

Nope, not easily. As they are weapons, they get all kinds of political scrutiny from everyone from DoD to State Department. I was talking to Jonathan Arthur Ciener (currently making caliber conversions) about 15 years ago and he was trying to export some of his integrally suppressed Ruger Mark IIs to the Israeli military and was denied export permits. The sale never took place because someone in the government didn't want it to.
