Has anyone shot Ruger's 10/22 Target? I remember I've heard that they're not worth the extra cost in terms of accuracy.

That's true in my opinion. Purchasing a used 10/22, and purchasing a new barrel/stock combo will get you better accuracy (from my experience). You can even skip the new stock, and just hollow out the barrel channel in the old stock to accept the .920 diameter bull barrel.

However, if your not one to use a screw driver and allen wrench... then go ahead, spend the extra money. You'll still enjoy shooting it.

It is a good rifle, but if you already have a 10/22, then you can upgrade parts on the existing rifle and get a better rifle for your money.

Even if you have to buy a new "standard" rifle, you can still build a better rifle for the same(maybe a little more) money that you would spend on the Target version, in my opinion

I had a 10/22 Target in stainless. The barrel, although beautiful, was not as accurate as some of the aftermarket barrels I've seen. My Green Mountain barrel on my blued 10/22 shot dime-sized groups at 50 yds., the Ruger bull barrel groups were just over nickel-sized. I'd go with a standard 10/22 and an aftermarket barrel.

My 10/22T has often made a 10 shot one ragged hole group at 50 yards. As with any .22, finding the right ammo is the key. Mine happens to like Super X hollowpoints and Wolf Target Match.
