How much is an American soldier worth?

Here is what I was thinking.
The french have been defiling the graves of our dead servicemen that liberated them in WWII.
I think that we should bring our servicemen home.
I also think that it is time that the french pay up.
I think that we should send the french a bill for the lives of those men.
What do you think?
About a million per man?

Sending the French a bill would be a waste of time and effort; bringing home our dead, however, is worth doing.

It would be a waste of time to bill the french, but it is more symbolic than material.
I personally am happy that my ancestors emigrated here from france in the mid 1800's.
I am a third generation American, and that is enough to get the sissy french out of my blood.
My great-great-grandfather fought in the Spanish American war, and my great-grandfather fought in WWI.
Both were proud to be Americans, so I guess that getting to this continent has that effect on people.

Gotta agree with Dan... I've been saying it for at least a couple years now. Thinking it since I saw a picture of the cemetery in about 1990.

Putting a dollar amount on the lives of our men lost in war is vulgar and does them a great disservice.

Definately bring them home - if they French even say anything, I say we go in hot and do an extraction.

Next time they get over run, we should tell them that we will support sanctions and all diplomatic attempts to restore their freedom.

The Iraqi people are far far more deserving of a dance with lady liberty than the frogs.

What are they going to do, give us the bailout money we gave them in the '50s to prop up their failing, socialist economy?

While it might be a good symbolic gesture to bring them home...nah, it *would * be a good symbolic gesture, no doubt; yet at the same time I would suggest we need to do something else - we need to pressure our government to remove France from the "most favored nation" trade category and impose tariffs on all French goods to the tune of, oh, say 300 percent. No I do NOT care if they do the same to American goods. The point is that they've proven they worship at the altar of internationalism, and are NOT our friends - so it's time to start treating them as the hostile nation they really are.

just my 2 cents' worth on that,

A soldier's training amounts to several thousand dollars, possibly even in the tens of thousands. The human behind the training however is priceless.
