Anyone here know if the P226 12rd magazine will fit/function in the P229?

Looking for a back-up to my P226R-DAK that's enroute and the P229 would definately win over the 239 if it will accept the 226 magazines.

Thanks

What caliber are you talking about? A 228 will accept 226 mags in 9mm I believe. But I don't think the 229 mags will work in a 226.

Both would be .357sig so I assume the 229 would take the same 226 mag.

The answer is yes.

However, I wouldn't make too much of a habit of using my P226 mags in the P229 (probably just paranoia).

Reason being because the baseplate helps keep you from slammming the mag hard enough to bend the feedlips. If you look at the 20-round magazines for the P226 (factory ones), you'll notice a little 'foot' welded onto the back of the mag where the normal 226 mags would hit the edge of the magwell - keeps you from getting overzealous.

edited to say - for backup purposes, this should be a non-issue because your life would probably be in danger if you needed to stuff your 226 mags in your 229. Doing it enough to make sure the mags work with the gun probably won't hurt the mags.
