Hi-Power 'looseness'

Hey all,
I just got my new FN Hi-Power, and was chatting with a friend who has an identical one just minutes ago. Holding the Hi-Power cocked and locked with one hand, I can shake mine side to side and it'll rattle. When I grab the slide with the other hand, I can wiggle it around and there's some definite play between the slide and frame. When I shake it with the hammer down and mag out, there's definitely some noise.
I doubt this is even a big deal, but my friend's HP has very little play all around, and with the hammer down, his makes no noise.
As long as they're both accurate, no big deal right?

I HATE slide play, it is rare to hear of a new FN Hi- Power having anything more than MINIMAL play. Audible slide play on a new premium pistol? I'd send that back to the factory, even if it shot one inch groups at a million yards.
P.S. : it wont affect reliablity, but it will affect rail wear in the long run and it's iritating as hell

It's very common. It won't hurt anything, and it won't wear out any faster (wear out a HP????). It is slightly annoying. If you want tight, buy a SIG.

If it bothers you now it won't get any better. Sigs are awesome, mine feels like a solid piece of metal.

I'm not sure if it really bothers me (I'll have to shoot it of course), this is more of an "is this normal" type question. The fact that I can put my finger on the barrel with the hammer down and wiggle it and the slide does beg the question, though.

Hi there,
I own 2 BHP's and both of them have a minimum amount of slide to frame fit both vertically and horizonally.
Remove the slide, barrel, recoil spring and reassemble the frame and slide only, do you have more/less of the same rattle? How much play do you have in millimeters?
Both of mine shoot exceptionally well with the minimum play of the slide to frame fit.
I don't worry about it. It is not a match pistol and still shoots better than I can.

It's pretty much the same rattle. Just a more hollow sound without the parts inside.
I ain't gonna sweat it unless it puts bullets way off target or this board's experienced BHP afficionados say "send it back!" My friend must just have a somewhat tighter one. SIGs are way too fat for my skeleton hands anyway :).

Mine does the same thing.
It won't rattle with a loaded magazine in it, though.
