The War, thus far...

Without posting a poll, I would like to find out what other members thoughts are on how the War is going. Specifically, in a 'pure' war sort of way - in the tactics and strategy so far, meaning forget about the media, the war protests, the Dixie freakin Chicks.
Just the basics in warfare, in terms of achieving objectives, speed and firepower in doing so, air superiority, and kills ratio. Will this war or offensive be written upon and studied as one of the hardest hitting, fastest, and well engineered battle plans in modern warfare? I'm not sure whether this is a general discussion topic, but there seems to be better discussions on this side of the forums. By the way, my thoughts on the war so far is this. From all the little bits of information that the media is feeding us, it looks like tactically, technologically, and the professionally the coalition forces are ripping apart Iraq piece by piece.
So far so good.
Driving through the heart of Baghdad is pretty goddamned ballsy. That's pretty George Patton-ish. Pretty friggin cocky and all, but oh so American, in the good and bad way of it all. Put a twisted little smile on my face to hear it on the news.......

PS the war is going swimmingly. But I'm suddenly reminded of one of Murphy's Laws of Combat: when everything is going smoothly and according to plan, with minimal losses and resistance, you are walking into a trap.

PS Corollary: when you secure an area, make sure the enemy gets the memo.

PPS Do not construe this to be a doom and gloom post. We're winning handily, and we'll continue to win handily. They will still have a few surprises, however.

generally agree with Coronach. unless they either totally got rid of their VX (I don't think so) or shipped it to the Sudan or Syria for the interim (would they do something that stupid) it's there somewhere and either they're going to use it or the commanders who were supposed to use it decided to disobey orders. I hope it's the latter but I wouldn't bet my life on it.

We are cleaning the floor with the Iraqi military. We've captured over six thousand Iraqis and have lost less than a hundred soldiers. That my friend is what I call, as the video game community would say, "ownage".

Study of this war is THE topic for the War College of the future with NO caveats.

The toys and equipment are nice, but the primary advantage the U.S. has is its command and control structure.

Other wars will be studied for their screw ups. This one will be studied for how to do things right.
