Wondered what folks that have used one thought of the Kydex stuff? I'm sure there are tons of opinions. I like leather and cordura, but never tried the Kydex stuff.

i dig it. use Blade-Tech hoslters and use Kydex exclusively. it doesn't lose its retention qualities, doesn't squeak and is remarkably comfortable for hard plastic. i've been using the same holster for 6 years now and it still works just great. if you keep the dust wiped out of it, it wears the gun's finihs much less than leather.

I'm a fan of it. I carry in a CompTac kydex IWB holster with a park'd 1911. Finish wears a bit, but it gets carried a lot and has a lot of presentations done. I like kydex because the draw is very quick and smooth, it retains the pistol well, and there is no moisture issue.

I was a die hard leather fan until about a year ago. Now I really like the Kydex.

One warning though, stay with the brand name guys, Blade Tech, Comp-Tac, Side Armor, etc.

The cheapo brands can be hit or miss on fit, quality and material thickness.

I use Comp-Tac for my IDPA holsters, byt leather for carry. I really like the leather IWB holster with a section of leather going up past the hammer, feels better to me. I find the kydex to be too hard and really sweaty here in Houston, course that may be because I'm old and fat.

Big Kydex fan here too. I like Blade-Tech, consistently very high quality.

I like Blade-Tech rigs alot. Another I've had good experiences with is FIST and their thin-kydex line. I have a Dave Spaulding model for my G23 that works very well.

You shoot at Eagle Lake? Just wondering. I keep getting shoot announcements over there, but haven't been in over a year. Need to start shooting over there again. Lots of good handgunners over there.

Interesting, nobody seems to DISlike it. I may have to try one, though I don't know how comfy it could be IWB. Might be the deal for IDPA stuff, though.

I like Blade-Tech as well. It does seem to wear the finish more than leather in my experience.

Not bad--but different from leather in that the draw takes a good initial yank to break the gun out. Have only used two that were belt-slotted, not paddle types--and my experience with them was limited. One was a Uncle Mike's for the Glock: way too vertical for me and no adjustment possible. The other was a Fobus roto-adjustable for a Ruger P97. I liked the adjustment but then the holster stood out a little further from my body than I was used to. The holster was very quick and very secure, if "noisy" on the draw. Both comfy.

Kydex holsters are probably one of the very few new developments in handgunning in the last 20 years worth our time and money. No longer have either gun or holsters but the holsters left a better taste in my mouth than the guns did.

(Yes, Virginia, revolvers do rule.)

I was a big fan of Fobus for the longest time, until I got a Tac-pro on a trade that I did and now I'm a Tac-pro fan. It's alot like Fobus but it don't have the rivets that a Fobus has. In the Fobus brand I always liked the paddle and the Tac-pro it is a belt holster. I used to pull off my gun when I got home now I wear my gun all the time at home due to the Tac-pro is so comfortable I sometimes don't even know I'm wearing it. Don't get me wrong, I do still like leather but pastic don't wear the finish on guns like leather and they hold there shape better than leather, and most of all the PRICE:D .

I have a fobus that gets used periodicaly. I do prefer leather only because the kydex doesn't pull in to my body as much, but I've never had any real problems.

Don't use kydex holsters for your Springfield Black Stainless, your bright stainless Mil-Spec or a Kimber Eclipse. It will scratch.

I like the Blade Tech paddle holster for range use for SIGs and Berettas. I used to occasionally carry my Glock 23 in a Fobus paddle ... very inexpensive, but quite comfortable and concealable rig .. still have the Fobus, don't have the Glock ...

Leather is still so much more classy for carry rigs.

G-Code holsters have been superior for me over Blade Tech and Side Armor and Cen-Dex for an OWB holster. They only fit a limited amount of models, how ever.

Plastic? Hey, no way!

I bought a $23.95 plastic holster for my pre-agreement Smith & Wesson model 60. It holds the gun securely. It's quick and easy to put on and remove. It hasn't scratched the gun.

I was wrong. It's a great holster—and readily adjustable, too.

Fist USA (http://www.fist-usa.com) makes really good thin kydex holsters. I used to carry a Browning HiPower and a 1911 in their ultra-thin IWB holsters.

I've got a Blade Tech owb holster and mag pouch that I have used as a school/range holster since '96 and it's almost as good as new. I tried a kydex iwb but found it uncomfortable.

As a South Texas resident, I use only Kydex.... too much sweat for a leather holster. I particularly like the Com-tac Pro Undercover, a clip on IWB. I also recently purchased a G-Code Comfort Carry for a Makarov. The G-Code is also an excellent IWB holster. Many Glock users like Side Armor Kydex holsters. I tried one but prefer the Comp-tac.

Not yet mentioned: Kydex rigs don't collapse when the gun is drawn, leather rigs usually require extra reinforcement at the mouth. Leather is typically more durable, though.

I prefer Kydex for CCW, namely Comp-Tac.
