I recently traded for a rifle with an Alaskan scope mounted.
I have not been able to find any information on this Leupold.
Anyone have a link to a good site? thanks.

No, just a few recollections.
Many, many years ago, Lyman made the Alaskan scope sight. It was a pretty good scope for the 1930s and '40s, and was substitute standard on the 1903A4 and M1C sniper rifles. They were still available up into the 1950s but other models and makes were overtaking it and it was discontinued by Lyman.
Sometime in the 1980s, Leupold looked at the popularity of lightweight hunting rifles and decided to bring back the Alaskan with better glass, better sealing, more power, and centered reticle, but still in the slim 7/8" tube to look right on a sporter. Leupold had guessed wrong and the new Alaskans did not catch on and did not last long in the market. They are in the 1988 Gun Digest but not the 1990, for example.
