There was a .22 rifle is saw posted at one point awhile ago that broke down
and fitted all parts into the stock.
Sound familiar? Does anyone know who made it? Has anyone had one?
Good idea / bad idea?

Originally the AR-7; don't know what it is called now or who makes it. I tried one a long time ago and didn't like it at all.
Alot more money, but the Browning .22 semi-auto takedown is a real class piece of engineering and a very versatile and effective .22 rifle.

ive had 2 of em over the years. they lose parts easy if you take em all the way apart, and they jam alot when they get dirty. great for a backpack or when you just dont have any other gun. i liked the pistol grip stock i had that was made by choate. very comfy and didnt weigh much. exept the rifle wont float without the original stock.

Here is an expensive clone to the Henry AR 7 survival rifle, might be of better quality, ive never shot one. if you got $400 to blow, this would be a nice alternitive:

I think the company starts with the henry receiver and adds stuff from there.
Personally i prefer my springfield M6 survival gun with extras:

I'd go with a Marlin Papoose (silly name, good gun) before I went with the Henry clone. It's got a very light, polycarbonate stock, and it's stainless steel. I have both 7 and 10 round magazines for mine. YMMV.

i like the papoose too, had one years ago in college, i could sneak it in and out of the dorms when i went hunting, only did that so it wouldnt get stolen out of the car (if you get caught now-a-days doin that, you get explelled). it used to supply me with rabbit and squirrel to get me through a low $$$ month. The only thing i didnt like about it was the really light barrel matched with a big wooden stock. i wish someone would have made a skeletonized butt stock for it. oh well, i love my M6. -Eric

I've used my Armalite AR-7 for many years and have NEVER had a single malfunction with it.
It has been a nice survival rifle.
My friend has one and his has also performed well.
Charter Arms made them for a while. I had one. It was a POS.
I don't know about the Henry AR-7's, having never fired one. They appear to be well made though.

In most states you would also be charged with a felonly nowdays as well. College dorms have one of the nation's rates of breakins, rapes, and other crimes. If I can't have a gun where I live then I an't living there.
