Just heard on MSNBC that correspondent David Bloom has died apparently of an embolism. I do not like most reporters but I liked him. He is survived by a wife and three daughters. Our prayers are with them now.

Anyone have any more details on this?

Bio included in thread above. Only 39. Speculation that cramped quarters/dehydration a cause.

Sad story. Good journalist, sometimes despite his employer. Prayers for friends and family.

He was one of the few reporters I liked. I thought he was great during the Olympics last year. It's a very sad story and I wish his family well.

Thats sad. :(

My wife used to work with his wife at about the time they met(she was the receptionist at an ad agency my wife worked at in Wichita, KS. David was early in his career on a local TV station there).

She says he was a nice guy (for a "talking head").

One of my co-workers has a son in an ordinance company supporting the 3rd Infantry. David Bloom allowed the soldiers to use his satellite phone to call home when he was not reporting. My co-worker had the opportunity to talk with her son from Iraq thanks to David Bloom. He will be missed. My prayers go out to his friends and family.

as I recall he was also one of the few reporters who said something to the effect of "of course the media is biased toward liberalism..." I'm not an MSNBC fan, but a guy like that has got to be missed!

Ditto on all, he was a really great guy, went all out to make sure he got the story right and took care of those guys who were taking care of him, i.e letting them use his phone etc, getting that soldier on th eline with his wife after he found out he was a new daddy...I will miss his reporting.
