I am looking for places that can rebuild to new or better, an old Remington 870 Wingmaster. I want to end up with an 18 inch barrel, replaced parts and new finish.

I have done one through Wilson/Scattergun and a large number through SGT pre-Wilson. Was hugely dissatisfied with Wilson's work.

Looking for another resource as I have my own and dozen's more to rebuild.

Sounds like you're redoing your cruiser gun AND the dept's inventory also, Kilroy. My guess is that you're the de facto armorer for your dept.

Robar oughta be a good choice, and Tank's Rifle Shop gets lots of compliments. However, the person signing the PO may cavil at the prices. Chances are you'll get drafted to do as much as possible.

Parts replacement is no big thing. Kuhnhausen's manual and a Remington parts list should get you through most if not all of that bit.

Refinishing's another can of worms. While the phospate processes(Parkerizing) can cover a multitude of sins, the non black finish can be a handicap in court as well as being more visible in SOME low light situations. Powder coating might be the answer, but I've no direct experience.

The places that dip finish shotguns with designer patterns like Mossy Oak may be able to dip finish your weapons in a flat black. Dunno about prices.

Arizona Response Systems offers quality gunsmithing services for shotguns. In addition, their Metacol III finish is highly regarded.

While my shotguns have not been modified by ARS, I sent my Sig P226 (West German) for ARS's advanced tactical package. I am very happy with my P226 and ARS's work.

Not affiliated, etc.

Check in with Hans from Vang Comp, I am sure he'll be able to help you out, I believe they're doing some work with Bar-Sto now too. www.vangcomp.com
