Life Jacket = junk

I've been using a Lifejacket to secure my firearm in my car for about 6 months. It's the plastic encasing that locks over the gun, making it unusable. Well tonight I went to secure my weapon before going into work, and the locking mechanism fell apart. It appears to be held together with glue. I have not been abusing the Lifejacket or using it other than when I leave the gun in the car. I'd say this product gets a thumbs down if I can only get one to last for 6 months.

You'll probably find that the life jacket (along with most other gun locking devices) aren't too popular with the membership here. They don't prevent theft, can be easily defeated (I was a kid once too), and could prevent the firearm from being brought into action quickly if it's needed.

Also, it isn't a "security device" so to speak. It's a child-resistant cap.
Take the opportunity to get a real safe for the car if you want (some/any)security from ages 10 and up.

I've looked into safes, but the gap between my floors and the car seats are narrower than even the slimmest safes I've found. For now, I'm going to have to use a trigger lock. I only leave the weapon in the car while at work, as my employer allows me to do that but not have it in the building.
I also have constant monitoring of my car in the lot while working.
I found an interesting safe at www.center-of-mass.com I'm going to try out.
