Lead deposit removal - what is your method?

After the weekend 3-gun match I disassembled my Benelli M1S90 and found horrible amounts of lead deposit in the barrel. :what: About 90 minutes of intense scrubbing (and cursing) later I managed to get most of the lead out, but I am not satisfied with the result. Small specks, lead stains are still visible. :uhoh:
What do you guys use to make the barrel squeaky clean?
Any tips welcome...

I use OOOO steel wool wrapped around a brass brush and moistened with oil for lead deposits. Woks fine.

i'm really surprized you've got lead with all the plastic wads that we have these days but if you do here's what i did once when i leaded my skeet gun up by shooting some spreader wads with no plastic fingers.........i went to the hardware store and bought a small amount of bronze or copper window screen....i then wrapped it around a bore brush or swab (don't remember which) and chucked the cleaning rod in my drill and it got it right out.....i had so much that lead powder was just falling out of the bore.....Dick

Stainless Tornado brush, with tera gun oil works pretty well on heavy crud. Hoppes /shooters choice (w/swabs and bristle brush) works fine for light cleaning.

Thanks for the tips. I was also suprised to see such a fouling in the barrel after 100-150 rounds. :what:
Al,
I saw the cleaning 101 topic, but found no tips there for lead removal...

Uhmmm...........I'm using a rather unconventional method on my own and dept. SG barrels.
Take off the barrel, swab out the barrel with your favorite bore cleaner, I use MPRo7 and let it sit for a few minutes. Then place the barrel in a padded vise to hold it steady and fairly level. Then a take an old aluminum cleaning rod section (actually 3). Put your brush and adapter on the cleaning rod. Then place the rod in a cordless drill and tighten the chuck hand-tight. Start the drill at low rpm until the brush enters the chamber area then you can speed up the rpms. Then run the spinning brush slowly back and forth through the bore being careful not to allow the rod to touch the barel walls or edges of the chamber. When you get near the muzzle you can feel the choke constricting the brush and can see when the tip comes out. Be very careful not to allow the brush to completely exit the muzzle.
Just concentrate on your task and things will work smoothly.
Make sure your drill is spinning to the right, otherwise the rod and brush will unscrew itself.
You will be amazed at how clean your barrel will be.
I also use 10ga brushes in 12ga barrels.
