Welcome, Manyirons...

That's a huge collection of blackpowder guns: you'll laugh (maybe cry for us..)if I tell you that here in good old England, the Home Office (govt dept that sets the rules) and Police (who control gun licencing) require that anyone that has more than eight firearms in their home must have an intruder alarm that dials the Police when triggered!

I think they'd have forty fits over your collection.. :D

Give your or any police a fit? Gosh, one would HOPE so! Now if MEC would only explain what I am going to do with this Starr Double-Action, and what happens when i have two or more of EVERYTHING? and if you ever want anything, let me know! DHL Express runs every day!

Welcome to the Board Manyirons. I might add that you do indeed have many irons and that's mighty good too.

Welcome indeed, Manyirons! Sounds like a well-chosen handle.

I expect you will have a bunch of experience and wisdom to share with us on THR. :)

Don't know about "Wisdom", if buying and shooting a lot of guns means that, i should be on mountain top playing guru!

Just muddle along and occasionally remember which-end, bullet comes out!

Have ordered Oehler Ballistic Lab, NOW we shall see what pressures this 777, Pyrodex, Swiss Black Etc. REALLY develop!

A resource! I want to hear about the Starr Double action. Several report's I've seen complain about ignition problems- nipples being a bit too far from the hammer. One guy got one and shemed the nipples and that seems to have fixed his problems. Give us some reports on your's.

The 8 gun deal in England sounds like what Senator Chucky Schumer was trying to promote here. He wanted anybody with more than 20 guns or a small supply of ammunition to have to buy a federal arsenal license.

Mec!

Starr-Report, so-far, unfired, except caps for testing, First hundred cycles, was rough, my gunsmith friend said keep trying. After a hundred or so, smoothed out, functions, now then WHERE is the backsight? TINY groove in hammer, one might catch on the fly while shooting i guess!

Cold here in Ohio, perhaps this weekend will dirty it up!

On the colt types, I always fatten out the hammer notch for a visible sight picture. Pietta is a bit conservative about letting go of spare parts for some of their guns but I suspect you can order them from taylor, or VTI. If they have to send to Italy, it could take a couple of months.

Sounds like you are getting good cap ignition and the rough action isn't an uncommon thing.

Action and function smoother, and V-File will cure that back sight problem! Really amazed the thing pops caps after all the negative reports!

By the way! new shipment from Dixie! Wesson Target Rifle and Queen Anne Flinty! Locak Black Powder Smith&Barrel Makers says he will (To get rid of me!) make a new rifled barrel for the Queen Anne with good sights.

By the way! Spaeking of! He builds a Five Shot .58 conversion on Dragoons and Walkers! Two on order! He does a .50 Five shot on Stainless Remmies, and yep! Two on order!

Mec! Got a Mang! What-Next! Looking at a Boeller from Dixie, looks like Schuetzen rifle/Blundebuss mix!

So many guns! Must buy!
