SHOT show is coming to vegas in February, but when I looked at the website it said you had to be industy member. Well that im not. So I embark on my quest to make it seem like I am. Has anyone here attended SHOT show? If so do they really ask for credentials or is that just a bluff? Am I going to have to start my own foundation?

It is a true trade show and credentials are required. But if you have a dealer you do regular business with, he will probably let you go as an "associate" for his store. I have done so on three occasions.

Jim's way is the easiest way to get in if you aren't actually in the industry. I did that myself the first time I went before I actually got into the industry.

And a word of advice, if you are going just as a regular Joe under the auspices of a dealer buddy, don't waste the Reps time. SHOT is where a lot of big business is conducted, and the industry reps hate having their time wasted by somebody who is in no position to actually do business with them when they have FFLs with 50K in their pocket standing in line.

A quick note the show also honors military and law enforcement credentials.
Have attended as two out of the three catagoiries.

In the past the show allowed C&R FFL holders to attend. I do not know the policy for this year though.

Trebor,

I attended in 2004 using my C&R. The SHOT show has been sending me requests to attend, so I assume that my C&R is still good enough. I'm not going this year, though.

Agreed, some companies do half their year's business there. I got out of the way FAST when a real customer showed up. Most of the medium to small vendors are nice to everybody, if you buy one gun from them for your own use, it helps their bottom line. It is very interesting to hear a designer talk about his product.
