Red dot and the Beretta Storm

Looking for info from anyone that has put a red dot on a Beretta storm.

What red dot did you choose? Did it fit the Beretta rail? Can you still use the "iron" sights with the red dot in place (under/over/or through)?

Same questions concerning the use of the Halo sights?

Thanks,

-Dan

cheap walmart dot sight works perfect.
the sights align through the dot site but are a little low.
I usually fold my front sight down as it is a little distracting.

I got a BSA 42mm on mine IIRC cost me fiddy bucks, I do remember that much, anyways fits just fine able to use the iron sites without a hitch, all in all its not a bad set up.

I have a Hakko tac-point on mine. It's cheap and works well. Plus you can see the iron sights through it if the batteries go dead.

I recommend Bushnell's 30mm multi-reticle sight.

It's a std. 30mm red dot tube, so it fits perfectly with low-rings, and cowitnesses the iron sights. And, it has 4 reticles to choose from, making it very much like an Eotech.

Mine is fast, clear and has held up really well. I've removed it and put it back on with no loss in zero.

Best part is, they're very affordable. Natchez has them for $69, IIRC.

Here's mine:

A big Thank You to all that replied. I need to do some reading up on some of the recomendations.

swingset, that looks real sweet, what caliber is it? You only seem to be missing an extended mag!!

Has anyone found a hi-cap for the 45ACP yet?

Thanks again for the guidance,

- Dan

Mine is 9mm, and I do have a boatload of 20 & 30 rounders for it.

No one, to my knowledge is making a hi-cap .45acp.

I had a Tasco Red Dot from Wally World that did not hold up to the massive recoil of the 9mm Storm. The problem seemed to be the connections. The optic is now on a .22 and works fine, but it would wink out on the Storm.

Don't laugh, but I have an ACOG TA11 on my Storm. It is great.

Thanks for the info.

What kind of battery life are you getting with your red dot? Do they take expensive/hard to find/ batteries?

Thanks again and Merry Christmas to all,

-Dan

i have the oetech 511 on my storn i love it but im sure you could get by with a less expensive optic for civilain use mine rides with me in the patrol car !!! initally iwasnt going to put optics on this rifle but the dam rear sight aperture is real small for me for fast target id. i was hoping that berreta would offer an ghost ring rear to replace the stock rear sight!!

I have a Rhineland FAL conversion in .45 ACP,uses 30 round grease gun mags.Put a Bushnell Trophy red-dot on it,hits anything I point it at up to 140 yards.Think I'm still on the first battery, had it like 1 1/2 years.

+1 on the Bushnell - any other red dot will work fine however the Trophy is the lowest cost for a multi dot optical device.

It looks like Bushnell makes a few differnt styles. One looks like 6MOA, isn't that too big? I have no experience in using red dots, what would be the best dot size?

Thanks again for the help,

Dan

It's a simple 3-prong AR flash hider, only drilled out to 9mm. $8 at the gunshow.

Bushnell also makes a multi reticle scope (that's what mine is). The reticles can be switched to a small dot, big dot, crosshair or circle/dot. I highly recommend this setup, as you can use the aperture that you find comfortable or accurate, instead of being locked into one.

Natchez sells them, $79 IIRC.
