It seems like the new model handguns are released for sale to the public after debuting (sic) at the SHOT show.
Sooooo...
What are the top model handguns (up to 5) that you are looking forward to trying and possibly buying in 2006?
I posted this on TFL as well, sorry if you visit both as I do, I just wants lots of opinions.

I haven't seen anything I really got excited about. The S&W M&P was very interesting until I found out it has a lock, so now I am looking for a G17 instead.
My next couple handguns will be OLD blue S&W revolvers, or full custom 1911 platform pistols. Nothing really new there......

- I want a 6 inch Smith in 17 Mach 2 (of course they don't make one).
- A high end 1911 long slide.
- A reliable 1911 in 10mm.

What's with the aversion to handguns with a lock???? Just don't lock the stupid thing. The glovebox on your car has a lock but you don't have to use it.

I'm looking foreward to the Springfield XD in 45ACP, it looks promissing, although its one that I'll have to hold to fully make up my mind on.

If the lock on my car's glove box stops working, it's not going to prevent me from using the car.

I'm really looking forward to the Beretta PX4. I haven't seen one around here yet. I doubt I'll buy one, I'm just really curious and want to check one out.

Nothing really excites me as time moves on...
Beretta PX4 - definitely pass.
Kimbers - everyone and their mom is jumping on the warrior bandwagon cuz it has a internal extractor. No thanks, my Series I will keep me happy. pass
Beretta 92FS - Plastic with ugly slanted dustcover. pass
SIG - external extractor and no more stamped slides. pass.
Glock - went that way once, no more
Well... truthfully, I've been quite interested in the P2000 lately.
But with California's new law of handguns needing either an loaded chamber indicator or a mag disconnect. nothing really looks appealing anymore....

Nothing much for me here either - maybe if someone finally does a decent little SP89 knockoff that actually functions I'll get enthused, but otherwise, it's pretty lackluster.
I'll probably buy more of the ones I really liked this year: the Vector V51 "pistol", the Beretta Laramie New Russian/Schofield thing, and a third Sig Mosquito.

If you don't use it it'll never break. As for rendering a handgun inoperable you could say the same thing about any saftey feature on a firearm.

I just bought one of the three I recently decided to get, the FN 5.7x28.
The next two I'll get as soon as I see them is the Skyy CPX-1 and the Kel Tec .223 pistol.
There were a couple others but I'm another person that won't buy a gun that has a politically correct internal lock that I couldn't remove.
To me it's almost the same as having to put a bumper sticker from Handgun Control on my car.
It may not interfere with the operation of the car but it would just irritate the heck out of me.

http://www.naaminis.com look under "Sandy's Soapbox"
5-shot larger than a 22mag mini 1 5/8", but smaller than a J-frame 1 7/8"
just as much energy from this caliber as most .38 special rounds, but with half the recoil.

I am hoping and praying for more revolvers from Smith and Wesson that aren't intended to be pointed at a rhinocerous. I admire the technology and craftsmanship of the 460/500, but I doubt I'll ever fire one beyond a token pull.
Oh, and I'm hoping the SHOT show 2006 is the year BLUE GUNS come back in style (hey, one can wish).

For me, it's the HK45 and the XD in .45 ACP. The HK P3K looks promising too but I've only seen one picture of it so I'll have to see more information on it.

New? Nothing new interests me. To many locks, plastic or other hinderences.
Newly made? Uberti Walker!
New to me for 06? Probably I will try and find a pre-war outdoorsman and add to my 38/44 Collection. Maybe I will find the triple lock target I have been looking for.

They are preparing to release an all-new, all-steel series of revolvers based on the Bulldog frame Calibers: .44 S&W Special, .357 S&W Magnum and .32 H&R Magnum. Barrel Lengths: .44 & .357 2,4 & 6", .32 Mag 2 & 4".
Is that interesting?

The Janurary Rifleman has a write up on the new Kahr P45.
I don't own any Kahr pistols but I might be interested in this 45, if Kahr doesn't use a PC internal safety on their pistols.

Would you want want a double only action pistol with manual safety, grip safety, key lock, magazine disconnect, trigger safety, and biometric fingerprint scanner?

Why get worked up over the lock? Some places require locks. So it's just good business sense to make a gun with a lock you get more customers. As for handguns coming out that i'd like i can't think of anything interesting.

Some people are drunks, so your car comes equipped with this device. Before starting the vehicle, you clamp your teeth on this part and blow for 4 seconds. The computer will authorize your request to drive.
LightningJoe, do you have a link?

I REALLY want the new SIG P240, the P220 frame mated to the P245 slide in DAK configuration. Good times.
the Taurus 1911 was supposed to be out the fourth quarter of 2005.
Be interesting to see if it com,es out in 2006 at all.

just as much energy from this caliber as most .38 special rounds, but with half the recoil. a .32mag has much less energy than a .38special -- as a matter of fact, it has less energy than most .380's according to all the published stats that I have ever seen.

Not too many new pistols are very appealing to me. Dont get me wrong, I've seen a few that I wouldnt mind having (SA XD45, Kahr P45, Taurus 1911), but they aren't on my list.

Modern alloys are interesting, titanium is interesting, factory 3" barrels are interesting.
Like, say, the original Bulldog updated.
Steel (especially in a .32 carry gun) with 2", 4" and 6" is just heavy and redundant in this market.
