I just aquired an older Bulldog and was trying to look up the date it was made. Does anyone know of a web site I can get info on weapons from their serial number? I am in Afganistan right now, but have internet access at times. O ya, the bulldog came off of a "badguy" . The serial starts with 878xxx Thanks ya'll , Brian

If you're in Afghanistan, how come you're posting from a US internet service provider?

A Bulldog may not be a .44spec. There are other shorter rounds like the .44 Russian, .44 American and the English .44 Bulldog (in order of shortness). Quantrill

Where you at in A-stan? I had a great time when I was there! I would love to go back if I wasn't tied down here in the States now.

Yeah, that IP addy thing is a pretty neat trick. Especially since the VOIP in Afghanistan uses a ISP that is not even in the US. How did you guys spoof that? I know when I was there my IP Addy came up as a south west Asian country.

Not real sure how these guys do anything with the computers here. I am on a site that houses several U.S. goverment departments. I know that we log on through a satalite, but not sure from there. I know when I call home , the caller ID says US Gov. but there is a delay of about 2 to 4sec. in our talking. Still it is better than we had itin the gulf war in 1991. ....Back to my question, any site out there that gives info on wepons by there serial number?

Does this gun say Charter Arms ? They are the ones who made the .44 spl Bulldog. A large serial # indicates that it is a modern gun, in most cases. Charter started makeing those things in 73, I believe. It isn't a hand filed Darra copy is it?:)

No record of Charter Arms serial # outside of ATF records, I know of. Sounds like mid 80's to me though eith that kind of #. If you ARE intell and you have a need to know-call the ATF and they may trace it's disposition somewhat. I doubt in this day and age your will get capture documentation to bring it home like our daddies and grand daddies did in a more sane world. Where the heck do you get .44spl ammo in stan? Must be a scum American expatriate's gun!:cuss:

That's for sure. No historical value, no value to the unit (presentation from another unit like indigs as a thank you for training them), not pre-1896, so that is a big no-go on brining it home.

The person who actually wrote the policy was an anti on the theater commanders staff and he decided to only cite part of the regs on C&R for the policy. We tried like hell to get it changed, but no luck.

I have a friend who was an AO (aviation ordnanceman) in the Navy during the first gulf war... he has told me the pilots at that time were allowed to carry whatever they wanted for a sidearm, personally owned or otherwise... he said one pilot with his squadron had one of those heavy duty, interchangeable barrel over-under derringers in .357... Bond arms, I think...

any how, could've been from a downed pilot... found its way there perhaps... also, remember the cia was involved in the afganistan thing when the soviets were there...

when I was in greece this past year, I met a guy who had a NAA mini in 22lr...

If you call Charter 2000 and speak to Nick (the CEO) he can tell you when the revolver was made.
