Have there been any reports on the performance of our current M4/M16's in Iraq ???? I'm interested because it looks like our folks got caught in a big sandstorm and now in house to house sh*t.

thanx in advance.

Most problems with the M16 were VERY early in the Vietnam War. Since then, they have proven very reliable on the battlefield. There have been exceptions with ammo (Mogadishu).

Try a search, this very question came up a week ago.

From the pictures I have noted that most ARs are the 20" A2 variety. Especially the Marines, who I believe primarily carry A2 types. I have seen just a few M4 models in these pictures.

Other than that, I have not heard too much on effectiveness. Seems most Iraqi's have been decimated by long range heavy weapons and airpower before our infantry need to engage them. That is a good thing.
