Remy 870 WM / mag tube extension compatibility?

I've searched the threads here, but couldn't find the answer to this question. I just picked up a Remington 870 Wingmaster, 2 3/4" chamber only. It has the 'standard' capacity tube of 4. Is it possible to add a tube extension to this shotgun?

Yes, you can add an extension. Various lengths are available. Try:
www.brownells.com
www.midwayusa.com
and search for "870 extension".

Usually a +2 is good for an 18.5" barrel; a +3 for a 20" barrel; then there are +4's and +5's should more capacity be wanted. Whether a clamp, spring, or follower is included may depend on what each brand decides to include. I hope this helps.

Yes, you can add a magazine extension to the wingmaster shotguns. I'd have to recommend using the factory magazine extensions, the clamps are very important to the ext. magazines. Plus they're a good insurance should you bump the ext.magazine tube

Extensions up to +6 (10 total 2 3/4" shells in the tube) are readily available.
You don't have to have the tube flush or shorter than the barrel because the extra tube length will only get a bit of powder residue, but if you want it to be close I would suggest:
18"-19" barrel +3 (7 total)
21"-22" barrel +4 (8 total)
24"-25" barrel +5 (9 total)
27"-28" barrel +6 (10 total)

I also like the factory extensions and clamps from Remington.
+2's for the 18" barrel
+3's for the 20" barrel.
Anymore than that and you're putting too much weight out front in my opinion.
All of my extended 870's wear 20" barrels and +3 extensions and clamps.
