Okayfine - My sister got married over the weekend (they're both pro, by the way...). They've got cash to blow, and figured they could either do a big shindig here in a St. Louis hotel, or for the same amount of money, they could have the family folks (and kids) drive down to about 50 miles south of Branson (hey, drivin' past there, I thought I was in the twilight zone of bad country music...), and put 'em all up for the weekend. Lemme tell you, it was a party... Ceremony lasted all of about 10 minutes... party all weekend... They rented a cabin for general use, and we BBQed, etc...

The place is owned by Bass Pro. Anywho, service was incredible, of course. Food was good, drink was good, all that stuff was at, or exceeding, expectations... But let me tell you about the venue. I have NEVER seen so many taxidermimogrified critters in my entire life... From squirrels, weasels, raccoons, skunks (sorry...), javelina, bobcats, to cape buffalo, moose, deer, antelope, lots of bears (griz and black) and I'm sure I'm forgetting to mention many... No shooting on site (the actual resort area is pretty small), but the place just feels friendly... They did guide us toward a sporting clays range near Branson.

If my room was representative... whew... Stuffed deer, a fully mounted beaver (hmm... that sounds sorta funny...), a squirrel, several pheasant, 20' high ceiling with beams, fireplace, whirlpool tub, etc... Tres comfy. Very "guy" stuff. Didn't see a single lace doillie (or however it's spelled...) all weekend.

Stopped by the Springfield Bass Pro on the way back. WHEW! I thought the thing here in St. Louis was pretty big. The Springfield one is just flat out huge. They've got an indoor range (no rentals tho), and only the shooting/hunting section of the store is about the size of half the St. Louis store.

Had a great weekend, and looking forward to Knob Creek next weekend.
