Just bought my first shotgun, a Mossberg 500A, 20 inch barrel, 8 round magazine.
Thought you all would like to know :)

I'll take it out to the range, in nine days, when California releases it from quarantine :(

I, too, just got my first shotgun. It is a Springfield 67VR series B. and it holds 4 rounds. I bought it used for 99.95 at my local gun shop. It feels pretty good, but the only quirk, if it is a quirk, is that the pump will not lock when it is pointed level, only when it is pointed up. Is this strange?

Wow, nine days eh? If I remember correctly Ga used to have a law like that too.

Well, the wait is ten days, but I've got one under my belt.
It would seem to me, that since this is my fifth gun, I've pretty well proven I don't need a "cooling off" period. *sigh* Need to start looking for work in the USA again.

Yeah, never really understood the "cooling off" period. If someone wants to off someone bad enough, they sure as heck aren't going to their local gun retailer to buy one legitimately...
Have fun with your Mossy!

Not my first shotgun, but for Xmas the Frau got me a Benelli Super Black Eagle II. Took it out in my back yard and fired off about 15 rounds..... I love it. Its the first semi auto shotgun I have ever owned and man does it shoot fast. Look out ducks!
My son wanted to take out his his new Xmas gift (.410 SnakeCharmer II) and he shot it about 10 times. We had a ball.

Went to Big 5 didn't you:) To take the 8 shot model or the 5 shot with the extra barrel, the decision of the century! I ended up with a 20 gauge with the two barrels but I already had a older 8 shot model 12 gauge lying around. And when you go to Big 5, you can justify to yourself buying another long gun like a $90 Schmidt Rubin or a $50 Turk Mauser a few years ago and saving money since you can put as many long guns on one CA dros fee as you wish!
Now if you are in to pain take yourself to Wal Mart for the 15 round boxes of Winchester 12 gauge slugs at $5.47 to 6 and load up!

A Mossberg 500 you say?
Why my friend, have you ever heard of a company called Knoxx?
They love the model 500 too :) , they make some awesome stuff for that gun, you should check it out.

Do they have a website? Could you post a link?

Thanks for the link. I plan to get either the Mossberg 500 Mariner or the 590 Mariner. As for accessories, I like the Spec Ops stock & the Sidewinder kit.

I am sitting here, at my desk, holding my brand new, fresh out of quarantine, Mossberg 500A :) Another THR member added to his arsenal, and there was much rejoicing.

I have that same Mossberg 500.
My brother-in-law picked up the Mossberg 20 ga. with 2 barrels. It felt so nice and light that I took a raincheck (BIL got the last one).
I still have that raincheck for a new Mossberg 500 in 20 ga. for $219.99 Now the question is do I need a 5th shotgun? Hmmmm? I don't have any 20 gauges?
I also have a raincheck for the Mossberg 12 ga. with 2 barrels at $199.99 but a 5th 12 gauge..still for $200 I want that mossy.

Get the 20ga.
Spend the other $200 on ammo.
The only down side to doing this is that you might want to get rid of a couple 12 gauge SG's because that 20 is such a joy to shoot.
Then you start to think, if a step down from 12 to 20 feels good then another step down to 28 would be the cats pajamas.
then theres 410bore.
After that you'll find yourself looking through the kitchen cupboard looking for stuff to load in an old paper shell. Finally, complete madness ensues and you end up in a fetal position in a puddle of your own sweat mumbling something about "its all Steve's fault" and "BA/UU/R"...

Why did you have to say that?:what:  I have to get the 12 gauge. It's the only model with the Marinecote finnish. If the recoil is too fierce, I'll get a recoil pad & have to bear the rest of the pain.
