Dealing with protestors blocking traffic

I'm curious: I know running them over -- however tempting the thought might be to some -- isn't such a hot idea. I wonder, however, what the cops would do if a citizen got out of his vehicle and began hosing the die-in protestors down with pepper spray, teargas, Halt, etc. (Or even kerosene, tar and feathers being harder to come by on a moment's notice, these days.)

Um, that would be assault and battery unless they were threatening you with violence.

The Spray-ees would somehow managed to sue the pants off the Spray-or. And the Spray-or would get arrested and charged with some sort of BS assault.

Your right to block traffic, impede business and generally be a nuisance ENDS when it infringes MY right to get to work and peacefully travel.

Even though we can't do it, my idea is this......

Missing your traffic blocking 7-color haired multi-metal pierced die-in protestor? ? ?

Look under my tires:evil:

I still like the old movie line:

"Driver, drive on!"

*sigh*

Back to the drawing board...

What about water balloons?
Tink's Doe-in-rut or Skunk-P scent?
Setting up an industrial-sized coffee pot and accidentally letting it all drain onto the street?
Having to answer a call of nature behind your car door when you're uphill from them?

Running out of ideas here... (I know, just as well, right?)

You and a friend get G-man suits and haircuts. One takes a camera. The other has a clipboard full of paper. One takes two pictures each (both profiles) of protestors, calls out a number, and the other furiously fills out a form. Every once in awhile, make a loud call on your cell phone: "Chief, we've got an MJ47 here. I think you need to send Nelson's unit down here."

How about honking your horn. No seriously, this would be a clear warning signal of your intention to continue along your intended path. If they don't have the common sense to get out of the roadway. Wait, they are war protester, common sense is not in their portfolio of ideas. Run 'em over, they shouldn't be in the road anyways.

Well I have a pretty good idea of what would happen. The not-so-peaceful protesters would probably do a Rodney King on yo azz!:neener: Attacking mobs is never a smart move.

Instructor and a few of us needed a IT room. Protesters were not using computers, just gabbing.

I cleared the room with: " Hanoi Hanna, Martin Sheen and Mike Farrell are on TV in the Student Union"

They left, Instructor (Ret. Military) gave me grin and the rest of us pro RKBA types had a room to use.

I'll probably catch it Friday...oh well.:D

al bundy has (had) the answer to protestors in Garys shoe store:

get a bunch of your buddies, remove shirts, expose beer belly's and boogie down!

Well, I've always kinda wondered... If you drive a car with an automatic transmission, why not just lay on the horn and let your foot off the brake? Just roll forward and see what that does to clear a path.

What if...

You are on the way to the hospital with your pregnant wife. Protestors blocking your way and will not move. Isn't that putting the life of the mother and newborn at risk, so running over them is sorta ok. right?

Fill up your windshield washer reservoir with something really stinky. Reroute the lines to come out the front of the car, below the bumper. Discreet.

What I'd want to do (but wouldn't) is place my CCW piece on the dash.

Well, maybe somebody has an old pickup truck.

Maybe they are a smoker too.

Maybe they are coming up on a bunch of people in the road when an ash from their cig falls onto the seat setting the interior on fire!

Maybe the only way the driver thinks he can survive is to bail out at about 15 mph!

Otherwise, he could be overcome by smoke

Also, if his truck has the same problem as my Honda, he should have it fixed because when it is cold, the engine likes to race...

Yeah, if something like that happened, it would be a real shame - tryin to get that protester smell off the undercarriage would just be hell.

Hey, whats the name of this forum again?

Oh yeah. Well, running over protestors isn't very high road, now is it? I suppose that if a SAS march was blocking your way, you'd be all about rolling over a few people, right?

Fact is, people have the right to assemble. That right doesn't include blocking traffic. So yes, they're wrong. And yes, it'd be really nice to just roll over them (as long as our ideologies differ). But fact is, we can't.

I think this one has probably run its course.

Mike
