This is my perfect assault rifle.
I think I am gunna remove the handguard.
I guess this is still incomplete.
Crap! Now I need to design the internals!

i have no artistic talent, so i'll just describe it to you:

picture a remington model 700, and then...hell, you got it.

Looks like another another injection molded Hollywood prop gun designed with a computer....but I guess thats what people want today. Guess I'm just a hopeless romantic for the days when John Moses Browning, Sam Colt, and other gun masters ruled the industry with wood and steel...(sigh)

I already own several perfect guns:

1. A Colt New Service in .45 Colt (it would be more perfect if it were a Shooting Master -- same gun, but with adjustable sights.):p

2. A Winchester Model 70 made in 1939 and chambered for .30-06 -- the perfect hunting rifle.

3. A Kimber Classic M1911 -- the perfect concealment and self-defense pistol.

4. A Kimber M82 in .22 LR -- the perfect small bore hunting rifle.

5. A Colt Officer's Model Target in .22 LR -- the perfect .22 handgun.

Yeah. When you take the collective works of John Moses Browning, John C. Garand, James Paris Lee, Paul Mauser, Sam Colt, Horrace Smith and Daniel B. Wesson, Henry (G. Tyler Henry, I think his name was)... the list could go on a long ways...

Actually my perfect gun is, more properly "guns" :)

And Hollywood has already made all my perfect guns - mine don't run out of ammo and only miss if it's really, really appropriate to the situation. Theirs almost never hit anything and always run out of ammo when I'm in their sights :neener:

I believe the title of this thread is "MAKE your perfect gun".
Not "list your favorite guns".

In that light, I made my perfect gun when I mounted the Lyman #2 tang sight on my '94 .30-30. But, I didn't make anything. I just put a gun and a rear sight together.

I know some guns and parts that I'd like made, but nothing is perfect.

Semi-auto, gas or recoil operated rifles in the following calibers: 7.62x25 Tokarev, .357 Magnum, .45-70 Govt, w/detachable magazines.
Semi-auto .22LR or .22WMR rifle or pistol with factory magazines exceeding 10 round capacity (it is legal now, after all)
Conceable pistol about the size of a Kahr K/P series, chambered for a round like 7.62x25 Tokarev, and then some engineers & manufacturers to get with the designing and pumping out reliable JHP ammo.

What's the rules here? Does the gun I make have to be legal in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws?

Hey, Taurus, does that thing shoot through schools?

Incidentally, I considered uploading a rendering of a 3d rifle I modeled years ago.

But my 3d skills back then were less than adequate.

Guns I got covered at the moment, I'm mainly an old school kinda guy when it comes to them.

However, I wouldnt mind having some of the bottomless magazines that John Smith had in Last Man Standing...

hey, czc, I remember reading a bit of your thread over on the TFL forums.

I've been curious, have you guys put any thought towards the internals and actual workings of these guns, or just the outward appearances?

Yes I am from TFL. lol I only came here because their site was down on new years eve.

I think we all had ideas for the internals. I think the others were going to use the internals from other guns. I wanted something new for mine. I wanted the best features from the FAMAS G2 and the AUG. About a year ago I tried to design a SMG's internals. I was using paint and I found that I would have to know how to use CAD software or I would have to hire and work with someone that does know how to use CAD software. And then I would have to use some ones machinery to make a prototype just to see if it would even work. Too much money involved.

:D "We're talking thermonuclear explosion and adios muchachos."

As much as I like the M41A, I'd rather have a H&K 51 with the belt-feed conversion. It'd be cheaper.
