Well, I use a Bushmaster XM-15 E2S which I built up myself, a benelli M1 Super 90, and an STI "tactical" chambered in .40 S&W.

If I did 3 gun here in Cali, I would use my Oly Arms AR-15, Benelli M3, and Glock 23C.

But I think your question is slated towards those in Cali without registered AW's. I think the common gun from what I hear is either the M-14 types, Mini-14s or Keltec Su-16s for rifles. Various shotguns rangind from 870s to Benelli M1s. And pistols are usually glocks, sigs, or some 1911 type.

How do they handle the issue of mag capacity? Forgive me for being naive.

if i recall correctly, the monthly 3 gun tourney at west end gun club has some matches that accomodate the capacity impaired.

most people seem to "find" high capacity magazines that they "tucked away" pre-2000. As far as the guns go, M1A's are competitive in heavy metal. Mini-14's with a lot of work done (by someone like ARS), Kel-Tec's with a lot of work. Shooting L10 in IPSC is one thing, shooting substandard rifles with neutered capacity, seems like such a waste of time. Might as well just play with airsoft guns. If I were you I'd shoot IPSC and save your money, when you move to a free state, then buy the bling AR-15, mags, optics, etc and shoot 3gun.

Everyone at the match has a shorty AR but me.:banghead: I make do with a Kel-Tec Su-16CA. Maybe I should "find" a 100 round Beta-C magazine in my garage to even up the odds.
