I've got some questions for you all with experience with 1911s, I've had my springfield 1911 lightweight fullsize for about two months now and have put just shy of 250 rounds through it, I know I'm still in the break in period.

My gun shoots low and to the right, I don't plan on using the gun for comp so I'm ok with it shooting a little low, Its putting the round right where the tritium vial is on the front sight, so about 3 inches low at 25 yards, I've tried moving the rear sight over to adjust but the damn thing wont budge, I've lossened the screw and used a brass drift and a hammer and only ended up in bending the drift. should I try to move the front sight or take it to a gunsmith?

I've also noticed when I hand cycle the slide it catches after about one inch of travel returning to battery, and again at when only the S.A. is visible on the barrel in the ejection port, I'm thinking this is just becuase its a new gun and everything is still meshing together, but I could be wrong.

and lastly, I don't reload so I'm not to concerned about this at the moment but I would like to start reloading in the near future, so this is on my mind I notice the spent casings and rounds that are loaded but not fired have marring on them if you look at the brass where the bullet is seated about half way down there are 4 marks going around the case, not all the way, only about half an inch, and then there aregoing down from that to the base of the casing, very thin and shallow, finger nail barely catches on them. is this something I sould be worried about? I've only had one Failure to return to battery and that was on the first 50 rounds. no other types of failures and all the brass gets ejected about 4 feet to my right and about a foot rearward.

thanks in advance for any insight on the matters.

That's interesting. Have you ruled out that the 3" low and right is due to the gun, and not your technique? I was shooting low left with a particular pistol of mine, and it was all a form issue, the ergonomics of that gun led me to shoot that way.

I don't have any good answers for your other questions, hopefully somebody else will have a go.

I thought it might have been me as well, but I put a boresighter in and it was aimed directly where it was shooting, plus then next time I took it out, I shot from a supported position, and at 15 yards, it was shooting 2 1/2 inches low and about 1 inch to the right, I figured it shooting to the right might have been me, and shooting freehand it is a bit more to the right, so i know I need to work on my form, shooting from the supported position showed that the gun shoots to the right as well.

thanks for the reply
