i ask because i have found a few good deals on the above mentioned ammo, but i have a very limited experience with it. About 20 rds in a s&w 9mm and a few through my xd, but not any experience with extende use. So how is this ammo, does it feed good in all firearms, shoot pretty straight, and all that! i would appreciate any insight that you guys might have in past or present experiences! thanks!

I use it, generally pretty good though it is not as great as some claim. Company has been around since like 1825 though. their 12 ga 2 3/4" shells in 00buck run a little long though when fired and can give certain shotguns minor ejection problems at least for me.
There is a reason they are cheap too, fiber wad, no shot cup, unplated shot, no shot buffer.

I used some in .45 ACP, I thought slightly underpowered. I did reload the brass with no problems, some people complain of tight primer pockets but I did not experience any problems, nice brass.

I bought some in .38 special and I have many that fail to fire due to to hard primers. The same gun shoots everything else just fine.
Usually 2 or 3 times through it will fire.
I also bought a couple of boxes in 30-06 and they seem to be pretty decent.
So.... I'll buy it if it's a super bargain.

I found the 9mm to be OK. I had problems (hard primer/light strikes) with their .32ACP.

Good ammo. Relatively cheap. I don't use it much anymore though. My 1911 doesn't like their 45ACP. However, the 40S&W is good and I haven't had any problems with it.

I've shot quite a bit in 9mm. I have had 1 misfire in all the rounds I have shot but it did go off the second time. I like it for storage because it is sealed.
I did shoot some once in .357 and that stuff was HOT!

I've shot thousands and thousands of S&B .45 and 9mm and hardly ever had a problem... in fact I can't remember anything major. I've also loaded lots of their brass and have not had any problems either. If I wasn't stocked up on brass and reloading components already, I wouldn't hesitate to buy more S&B.

I found a deal on a case of .357 158gr FMJ S&B, it's been doing OK for practice ammo. It was flat point, so I can use it in either the revolvers or the lever gun. :)

I use alot of their product. Mainly in 9mm.40 and .45. I bought 1,000 rounds of .357 Magnum also. The .357 is very hot. It almost scares me it is so hot. I have a S & W 686 vintage 1985. I have shot about 200 rounds of the .357. I haven't seen any damage nor do I expect any. It is just loaded a little hotter than most .357 plinking type ammo I have shot.
Hard to beat the price for what you get. Unlike some here, I have never had a failure due to hard primers. Honestly, I can[t think of one failure I have had with their ammo. I got mine through www.cheaperthandirt.com Don't know if they are the cheapest but they are reliable.
I really like the auto calibers - 9mm, .40 and .45. Sometimes it seems a little dirty but not much more than Speer or other more expensive ammo I have used in the past. All in all they make a good product.

I am not over enamored and actually once all but blamed it when my SIG 226 (9mm) seemed to act up - that was in fact not really the ammo but excessive grease/crud on slide rails.
So - for practice I'll use it - well, finish what I have anyways.
I have that for CZ-52 and it runs well - but then not too much choice for 7.62x25 anyways.
If a deal real good, I guess I'd get some more but otherwise it's WWB or American Eagle when I get good case deals. Or even get to reload some too at times!

S&B isn't target ammo or defensive ammo, but is fine for other range use. It's cheap, brass-cased, and not likely to blow up in your face like AMERC. Think of the occasional failure to fire as a training opportunity, and the value skyrockets.

I think it's a solid choice for range/practice ammo.
Reliable and inexpensive. I use their .38spl, .357, 9mm, and .45acp.
No hiccups or errors.

I have used it almost exclusivly for shooting at the range. I shoot .45acp, .38special, and 9mm. I have never had a single FTE or FTF. I would agree they are somewhat underpowered although I have read on some forums people think they are hot. Cabela's has the .45acp for 8.99 and the 9mm for 5.99 right now. Great deals.:D :D

S&B experience (limited)
7.62x25mm in CZ vz 52 pistol: S&B seems very potent, close to SMG spec;
accuracy and reliability better than typical 7.62x25 military surplus;
reloadable brass tho' it takes a little more pressure to seat primers
so tales of tight primer pockets may be true.
.380 ACP in a pistol with a very light hammer strike: the S&B behaved like
hard military primers and required second or third strike to fire:
great cure for flinching, especially if you are not aware you are
flinching. This was this pistol's problem, but a gun used with these
rounds would need a stiff hammer/striker spring.
M2 Carbine
January 5, 2006, 05:46 PM
I use it in,
9x18,
9mm,
7.62x25
7.62x39
and a few others.
I buy it because it is usually the least costly, quality reloadable brass case ammo I can find.
I can't recall ever having any problem with it what so ever.

I have shot 38, 9mm, 40 ,30 carbine, 357 sig, and 7.62x25.
Only thing I encountered was with 357sig, for some reason they are prone to hard primers. Had to double strike some.

heck of a value for range ammo.

The WWB Metric calibers appear to be S&B (eg, 7.62x25mm WWB

But WWB in non-metric calibers so far appears to be Winchester
manufacture.

i thought my situation was unusual, but after reading this thread, i'm thinking we should popularize an S&B Drill, based on the mozambique.

four quick trigger pulls aiming for COM,
pause to re-assess and rest trigger finger
two trigger pulls to head

It shoots like crap out of my p-32 kel-tec, .32 auto. It hits way low and doesnt group. However the power is unmistakable, it has a lot more recoil than most other brands. It proly shoots fine out of longer barrels.
Winchesters new more "accurate bullet" in the white box shoots to POA in a nice hole touching group, so it ain't the gun....I think win used to use S&B bullets for there shells in the past casue this was not the case beforehand.:D

S&B .45ACP 230gr FMJ is good, reliable ammunition based upon 1500+ rounds of use. S&B .45ACP brass is excellent brass based upon 3,000+ case and 15,000+ reloads.

Only caliber that I tried it in was 32acp also. Maybe one out of every 6 or 8 rds needed a second hit to touch it off. OMG, the recoil--did I say OMG!! Thought the gun would come apart. Don't need to try anymore of it.

I've used the 9mm and 380ACP... my Ruger P95 loved the stuff. My Kel Tec P11 often had to strike it twice to get 'em to go bang. Kel-Tec P3AT also had problems with the hard primers.
Had a friend with a Glock (33?) in 357sig that had a lot of problems with hard primers.
I've reloaded the brass, which seemed to be of good quality, with no problems.

If you look at the 45acpfmj boxes they state it was produced in the Czech Republic. The only difference is that on the Win. product they don't use the primer sealant.

I guess I'm one of the few who have had some real issues it. I have
only tried their 9mm in aluminum and out of 3 15rnd magazines for my

I reloaded my magazines with UMC and had no issues at all. Haven't had
an ammo related jam since.

I used to shoot it.....when Cheaper Than Dirt sold it for 8.99/box for .357sig. Last time I stopped by it was up to 14.99, so now I stick with US brands.
Only problem I ever had was with my Glock 31 and light strikes on the primer. I've since sold the Glock and bought a Sig P226R-DAK and never a problem with my remaining stock.

Natchez Shooter's Supply generally has S&B in 9mm in the $5.00 a box range, when bought in bulk. (I quit buying ammo from Sportsman's Guide years ago -- their prices can ALWAYS be beat -- even on special sales.)
I've used it off and on for several years. The only problems I've ever had with it is with hard primers, and then ONLY with guns with lightened hammer springs.
Good stuff. Generally a little on the hotter side, and very accurate.
For good deals on ammo: Natchez Shooters Supply, Georgia Arms, and Ammoman. If you can't find it there...
(And then there's Wal-Mart's Winchester White Box Value Paks.)

It's okay, but can be very problematic in Glocks due to light hits on a rock hard primer. Not for me! I've got 8000 rounds plus through a G22 with zero misfires. A good share of that was S&B ammo. I've used it in three other Glocks I own. Again no problems.

It's the main ammo sold at the range I frequent. Good ammo, but very hard primers. S&B has helped me weed out guns in the past that could not reliably fire the ammo. One Hi Power, one Sig p239, and a Walther p99, all in 9mm. I tried a 2nd p99 that worked fine, and three other HPs that worked fine.
Guns I owned or tried that fired S&B without any problems: Glock 17, 19, 23, 26, 36.

Sellier & Bellot has a rep for hard primers. This can cause problems with ignition. I had a bad experience recently with S&B .38 Special wadcutters in my S&W Model 10. Multiple failures to fire due to light primer strikes. I discontinued use of the ammo.
My Model 10 has had some action smoothing, but it has never FTF'd with factory ammo from Federal, Speer, Black Hills, or Winchester.
