I have heard that to check for trigger slap, you cycle the bolt while holding the trigger down - is this right? I did it on my SA 85 - I suppose slap would happen in "resetting" the trigger.

From the Romanian AK site (http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/slapfix.htm):

Trigger Slap is caused by out of spec Fire Control Group parts, specify it occurs when the rifle's bolt recoils hits the hammer which in turn moves down and locks under the disconnector. When the hammer moves the disconnector so It can be locked into place ready for the next shot, the back of the disconnector catches slightly on the trigger and causes it to "slap" back against your finger. This can cause pain and discomfort when shooting.

Doh! Preacherman beat me to it while I was cuttin' and pastin'. :)

Anyway, I found that on mine, the bottom on the disconnector (under the blue line in the pic) was hitting the trigger everytime the bolt came back. Removing a little material from the disconnector there helped drastically.
