War Strategy

I want to start off by stating that I have never been in the military and have no expertise in this area.
To me it seems that the strategy was brilliant.
In the last Gulf War there was a bombing attack for about 30 days. No doubt Hussein thinking that Americans are wusses planned for there to be a protacted air bombardment.
The Administration flipped the strategy and instead executed a very effective ground attack.
What do you (generic you) think about this?

They're going to pound their faces into our fists until we give up.
OH! You mean the U.S. strategy! :D
Depends on who you listen to. According to the NY Times, the Iraqis seem to be suckering us into a postion where they can launch a brilliant counter-attack and roll us into the Gulf.

The mainstream media seem to be getting more negative every day, while the troops are getting more positive (and more rest, too). The machismo associated with a ground war to take Baghdad and Basra early was not lost on the Iraqis. They seem to think it's cowardly to use our high-tech toys to kill them. I dunno. Seems the smart thing to do.

Well, the Fat Lady isn't singing yet, but it sounds like she's doing her warm-ups back stage.
Interesting how the US (oops... Coalition) didn't fight this one the way they fought the last one... that's supposed to be a good thing right?
I'm still waiting for at least one horrific account to occur against our troops (and praying that it doesn't) or the citizens at large... but really, I'm hoping that a mass surrender occurs, everyone get's the word and the re-build can begin.
Hopefully world opinion will also be re-built into an image that more closely resembles that which actually occurred as opposed to Al-Jaz, NYT or anything French versions. (Dream On Baba Louie)
Probably depend on a good accurate after action accounting... No. of casualties both sides, economic impact, how much oil it takes to get things up and running again... oh did I say Oil? I meant effort. How much effort it takes to get things up and running. Some of that may come from oil money tho' doncha think?
And to see what comes on the War on Terrorism, NK or the Palestine/Israel situation now that things can (hopefully) settle down in Iraq and our presence lends a cautious but heavy hand to the neighborhood.
Adios
PS: We should probably thank the UN for keeping out of the way these past few weeks.

We should probably thank the UN for keeping out of the way these past few weeks. Did they have much choice? They ranted and raved a bit, but other than the U.S. and British armed forces, what muscle do they have?
