i recently acquired a tikka t3 in 300wsm. the recoil is significant enough that i'm considering having a muzzlebrake installed. has anyone been through this with the tikka and do you have any recommendations?

There's nothing unique about a Tikka, relative to whether you'd use a brake. There are several brake designs that work well; you can see lots of examples @ Brownell's. Most brakes will dramatically increase perceived muzzle blast and noise, but most also mitigate recoil.
