Is there a shooting sport for bolt action military rifles like Springfileds, Enfields and Mausers? I'm thinking about picking up one of the Yugo Mausers. Ammo is cheap and the 8mm is easy to reload.

I want a knock around rifle. Thought about and FAL and an AR, but then I thought, why? Do I really want to drop $700 on a parts gun or a kit when I can spend $150 on a piece of history that is fun to shoot and doesn't break the bank. Besides I can pick up a Mil-Spec 1911 with the left over cash.

I had an FR-8 that was a blast to shoot, but the headspace was excessive. I sold it but wish I hadn't.

thanks,
tjg

There is a club here at the Pueblo West Sportsmens Range that holds a CMP match every month, allowing only bolt action military rifles. A friend of mine set a new club record there with his 1903A3 last month.

The same club also occasionally holds a "Battle of the Bulge" match, allowing M1 Garands to compete.

I also think there is a pretty big one somewhere on the lower east coast. Look over on www.milsurpshooter.net

Should probably look under the Schmidt-Rubin forum as they are usually the ones that win. ;)

The correct site to download the target is here (http://members.lsol.net/beebe/thrpm)

A surplus military rifle match for fellow THR members. :D
