Can the grenade launcher attachment on a Yugo SKS (http://www.simonov.net/uberyugo.htm) be (easily) removed? Or is it permanently attached to the barrel?

Thanks.

i believe that it's permanent. if you don't want the grenade launcher, get a different SKS...

I think that if you want it off you knock out the pin and then it unscrews. If you look at it it is a add on and the California compliant ones have had them removed and a fake flash hider screwed on in their place.

they can be removed

It isn't easy though.

there are instructions for taking it off Here (http://www.surplusrifle.com/sks/grenadesightremoval/hs.asp)

been thinking about taking mine off, but it really doesn't get in the way, and it makes it look even meaner...

If you aren't worried about damaging the GL itself, it comes right off. Like Freightman said, knock the pin out. Lock the rifle's front sight in a padded vice and twist it off with a pipe wrench. There contradictory info out there on the threads direction, but both of mine came off counterclockwise.

Wonder, that last link you provided is a great one. (Gunowners.org) Especially for people who dont devote every waking moment studying political issues/avenues to get involved in. I wrote a couple letters, using thier site. Its on my "favorites" list on the computer, now! Living in Illinois, Gun owners seem to be a dying breed, someone has to stand up against these liberal pukes! Once again, thanks.
