[.45 Cal]

Anyone have a preference between these two? I have a friend who owns the Springfield and he loves it. The Baer is available at my local range to shoot and I'm going to give it a try tomorrow.

I assume you mean the TRP (Tactical Response Pistol)? If so I would prefer the Baer. On the other hand, if it were between the Springfield Professional and the Baer, I'd take the Springfield.

know a shooter here that is an avid shooter, especially with the 1911. very dedicated and meticulous about his firearms and his shooting. He bought a Baer a couple years ago and swore he'd never buy any other 1911 but a baer now. It was the best pistol he'd aveer shot. That, coming from him, says alot about the Baer.

A guy here- a genuine rocket scientist, has a bunch of Baers and a bunch of the other semi-custom 11s and he believes the Baers are the nicest available. He has spent some time on the phone with Les Baer and thinks he is a super nice guy. This helps

My preference is Baers pistols. I won't own another SA. Oh, I have two Baers & one SA.

Comparing Baers to run-of-the-mill Springfields is apples to oranges.
The Springfield Pro is in a whole different league and is at least as nice as any Baer. It just doesn't have a sexy, high end semi-custom name attched to it, so many people won't even consider it. They're not going to spend that kind of money on something that doesn't have the high dollar name recognition of a Baer, Wilson, or Brown. That's too bad because it is an awesome gun. I would take one over any Baer and over most Wilsons or Browns too.
