Are there any sources for extended buttstocks for the Rem 870? I'm buying one from a friend in the next week or so, but since I'm 6'10" and he's not, I'd like to extend the stock to fit. The current length of pull is 14", and I think 16" would be about right. I'd like to get an extended wood stock rather than have a 2" spacer between the existing stock and recoil pad. Any suggestions?

Funny?..........I'm 6 foot and I just put a 12" LOP cadet stock on my 870.
It's alot handier for me......especialy when wearing thick clothing.
Calanctus....that might be something to consider.

Try Wenig's, not cheap but they'll get it right.

Or,add one of the thicker pads to pick up 3/4 " or so.

Also, it's easier to shoot a stock a little short than one that's a little long, but I doubt that'll be your problem.

Also, what's the mission? I use a 14 7/8" stock on my trap gun, and my bird gun is about 14 1/2. The "Serious" 870 here have about 14" LOPs. They all work for the mission.

I'm 6'2" and take a 36" sleeve and 52 Long coat. I can shoot the 20 gauge YE 870 here with its 13" pull just fine after a practice mount or two. We can adapt a bit and still shoot well.

You might want to look at Choate's offerings. They have a stock system built around the use of 1/2" and 1" spacers.

I'm looking at this as an "all-purpose" 12-gauge: sporting clays, maybe some ducks/geese, probably some deer hunting with the rifled choke. I did seem to adapt to it pretty well (shot a 37 on a pretty tough sporting clays course up at Pintail Point, compared to my friend's 26), but I feel I could do even better if I didn't have to adapt. Maybe I will try a 3/4" spacer and go from there. Any Maryland gunsmiths you'd recommend, Dave?

37 at P/P is darn good, that's a fairto middlin' hard course.
