What did you do - if anything - to seal your wooden stock?

Some stockmakers use a special blend of tung oil/marine spar/mineral spirits others use Permalyn Sealer...
I'd go with the Permalyn only because you don't have to mix it and it's available at Brownells...
Slap it on everywhere, let is soak in. Do it again the next day if necessary- make sure you don't get drips- smooth.
Sand it back when it is TOTALLY dry and apply the topcoat.

Most rifles I've owned, the only area needing help is the inside of the stock. The outsides are oiled or varnished or otherwise coated. The inletted areas could stand coating with wax or oil, as a for-instance.

Dang it, dude, ask the MAN. When the time comes, of course...no need in driving him nuts now...lol. He will do whatever it takes for the interior, I'm sure.
