Ok, let's forget metallurgical quality (or lack of it) and build quality .....

What in your opinion is the absolute cheapest piece (of cr*p?) on the market...... new? Is it Jennings, Raven, Lorcin ..... what?

I'm not after buying one ... no way but ... just curious. :p And ....... how long do ya think it'd survive useage?

I disagree with the nomination of the hi point as being a piece of crap. it's a very good 105 dollar major caliber blowback handgun.

I might add, that I did resort to obtaining one ''cheapie'' last year. Got a Phoenix HP22 ........ and despite having to make one or two minor ''tweaks'' have found it to be a great lil plinker ... and if adding the longer (5") barrel .. remarkably accurate.

It does tho need to be kept reasonably crud free for relaible cycling .... it likes full load rounds.

Don't think they are made anymore, but the worst POS handgun I ever saw was the "Clerke" revolver. Choice of .22lr or one of the .32 cals. Zinc or some other really cheap alloy with a thin steel cylinder & barrel liner. In 1976 or so sold for around $30, as I sort of vaguely recall.

Not in business anymore---but a .38 RG revolver a buddy got for $10----or was it $15???-----anyway---was the worst piece of crap I ever laid eyes on.

I know someone whom still has one, dunno why? Sometimes it fires (2/6 cyl will) and sometimes most ot the lead goes downrange. Again Sometimes. Its too ugly for a paperweight, and you'd probably have to bribe a buy-back program to take it in.

I used to have the HI POINT carbin and I still stand by my comments.

What is a bigger POS than the HI POINT that is in current production? I think that the question stated it had to be new.

Some HI POINTS may work but that doesn't change the fact that they are made extremly cheaply.

J22.... don't know the manufacturer but the metal manufacture is obviously not even tempered very well.... But having said that... for its price, under $100... IT IS THE FUNNIEST THING TO SHOOT EVER!

I just wrap one hadn around it and pull the trigger like a mad man.... I'd be lucky to land all 5-6 rounds in a man size at 25 feet but who cares? It is for amusement only.... THe real fun .22 is the Ruger MkII

Apparently it (he says) shoots totally reliably ... but he had expressed other interest previously after shooting my P95 ... and I'd hoped he'd go for that or better.

Davies. 100% innaccurate, and from other reports I've read, very short lived.

Since I live in the ***wonderful*** and **safe**:barf: no carry state of Ohio,,,,believe me,,,whatever wins top (bottom?) honor of being th biggest POS,,,would be far more welcome in my pocket if I needed it than anything locked in my safe at home,,,,@ any price/@ any quality level.

When I got out of highschool I bought 2 Lorcin 380s and they were the biggest pieces in the world. Glad I gave $50 for both, I just threw both away about 7 years ago.:barf:

My first handgun was a Jennings 22. Paid $30 for back in 90. It is a total piece of crap. I haven't gotten rid of it yet because I would never wish it upon any one else. I have thought of turning it in to one of the local police gun turn in's. The last IPD gun turn in they were giving you $20 and a coupon for a free pizza, which is more than the gun is worth. And I know they would do what needs to be done to it - destroy it.

Umm, let me guess... just a wild stab in the dark here... a painfully abraded thumb knuckle? Yeah, I had the same problem.
I think the P-380 was designed that way to keep the owner from shooting it too much. ;)

I got the HP22 about a year ago and have put 300 rounds through it (cheap stuff) without a hitch. Shoots to point of aim at 50 feet, what more could you ask for at any price? I could have gotten a Beretta or Taurus for much more but they seem to have "problems" too. Took the HP22 apart one time:confused: , after that experience I decided NOT to get the target kit.

I've been through 2 shooting schools 60 miles from each other with different ownership and different instructors. When I went to the first 2 years ago, the FIRST question the instructor, a retired airline pilot asked, was "Has ANYONE come here today thinking that you would be shooting with a Davis or Jennings firearm?" Luckily, no one did.

When I signed up for the second school, the instructor (Marine vet and local sherriff's dept. firearms trainer) asked during that first phone call if I had a Jennings or Davis gun.

That alone tells me what to avoid like the plague.
