M14 Scope

If I do get an M14 type rifle (prolly rack-grade Springfield M1A) and an ARMS #18 mount, what kind of scope should I get?

I'd verymuch prefer a fixed power scope with a WIDE objective, something that's useful for making hits from 100-600 yards. I've heard good things about 6x scopes. What's a good one and what are some good prices?

A 6x42 German Leica's and Hensoldt are available surplus for about $400 .

I've heard good things about the IOR Super M2. Can be had for around $350 or so.
