Walmart cancelling existing Winchester orders

This is not an earth-shaking event, just another data point in the current Winchester story.
On Jan 12 I ordered a Model 94 Trapper in .357. The timing was coincidental, I hadn't yet heard of the factory closing. The Wal-Martian checked their supplier and confirmed availability and the order was placed. Today I checked on the order and the Wal-Martian said their supplier had cancelled the order because it was a discontinued item.
Wal Mart buys direct from manufacturers for most things, but appearantly goes thru a middle-man for firearms. My guess is that the middle-man realized there would be a slight bump in sales due to the factory closing and he could do better than the "Walmart price" selling thru other channels.
And yes, before anyone else says it, yet another reason to buy from a real gun shop.

i may be wrong, but doesnt RSR supply to walmarts as well?
if so, from what i've heard (read on errornet) RSR's supply of winchester products is virtually nil.
try local mom/pop gunshops.

spiff is certainly correct about RSRs supply. They've got a couple 1300s left (I think there were about 20 left yesterday, spread out among various setups), and a couple bolt rifles in odd calibers, but they are completely out of 94s.

I have lots of Winchesters already. The only one I would like to have gotten, and had been planning on getting for a few months, is a Classic Super Grade. There's a slightly used one at my local shop, but it's in .270, and I have too many Winchesters in that caliber already. The price has not changed as a result of the closure, so it might make a good short term investment for some quick turn over, though.

I told the wife I should go see if they have a .30-30 M94 Ranger on the rack, just because. My M92 Rossi is good 'nuf for .357 duty.
