Detail Stripping Steyr Pistols step by step

Refer to the exploded diagram and part #'s in owner's manual
Disassembly:
1. Field strip as advised for cleaning
2. Take a screwdriver(3mm) and lift the manual safety spring(28) and push the manual safety rod(26) through the frame(2)
3. Push the trigger(17) foreword, push in the key lock(23) with the key(50), turn the key lock(23) counterclockwise 45º (the key lock remains in the frame)
4. Turn 45º the disassembly lever(7) until it corresponds with the marking on the frame
5. Push the disassembly lever(7) from the inside out with the screwdriver
6. Lift the complete multifunction element(E) carefully, because the slide catch(30) and the key lock(23) are spring loaded
7. Take the complete multifunction element(B) out of the frame(2)
8. Push out the manual safety pin(29) and remove the manual safety assembly(E)
9. Push out the trigger pin(22) and remove the trigger bar assembly(C)
10. Take out the trigger spring(20)
11. Push through the catch pin(14)
12. Push foreword the lever(11) a little with the screwdriver and flap down the catch(10)
13. Remove the catch(10) with the drop safety(32)
14. Push throughout the lever pin(15) and remove the lever(11), the lever spring(13) and the catch spring(12)

Assembling:
1. Start with the lever(11), insert lever pin(15) lever spring(13) and catch spring(12)
2. After assembling hold the complete multifunction element(B), the slide catch(30) with catch spring(31) and the key lock(23) with key lock spring(24) between your thumb and index finger and insert the complete multifunction element(B) at first in the rear of the frame(2)
3. Push in the disassembly lever(7) in the disassembly position
4. Turn the key lock(23) clockwise until it comes out
5. Lift the manual safety spring(28) and insert the manual safety rod(26) until the spring engages in the rod

detail strip for P7

-with fingernail apply mild pressure and rotate firing pin bushing 45 degrees cloclwise
-depress grip cocking lever 1/4 of the way and pull out f-pin busbing/f-pin assy
-depress slide removal button and remove slide up and foward
-pull spring off of fixed barrel
-remove grip screws, one each side and remove grips

done!

Yes, it applies to both M and S series pistols

To which I say:
What you have described is NOT a detailed strip of the P7. There are LOTS more parts that need to come off the frame (and a few buried in the slide, before you can have that pistol detail stripped.

What you described is a FIELD STRIP.

Thanks for sharing! I will probably try this over the weekend and see how it goes. Glad someone else did if first!

My other project is to modify a S&W Sigma 17 round mag and make it work in the Steyr M9. I'll take pictures and let all know how it goes!

Only becaue I hope someone detail stripped my old M13 before I got it in 84 as 30,000 or so rounds later I have only field stripped it since!
