What is wrong with Remington?

Not their shotguns. Their reputation for excellence remains intact. What upset me today was the wasted effort (3hrs) roaming the net to find Remington logo t-shirts. Sounds simple enough right? Wrong.

All I wanted was the green tee's we have all seen before. You know, "America's oldest Gun maker". Remington does not produce these shirts or clothing. They have licensed these items out to a company called "The Brinkmann Corp". Fine.

I visit the site. Nadda. I call the company to find out where to go. They say they will send me a catalog. No confirmation on the tee's though. And they also tell me to check out Walmart. By this point Im begging for a straight answer. You have the contract to produce these shirts and caps, right? Yes sir, she replies. Great, than lets make believe that I had some money and I uh, wanted to buy some t-shirts like.....right now, WHERE WOULD I GO?

Her answer was that she will send me a catalog. :banghead:

Unlike Winchester, Springfield Armory and Marlin, who all have shops available for these very little but so important items that we shooters hold sacred. Items of association. I wonder why Remington thinks so little of its clients as to contract-out products to the point of oblivion. Remington, your country is not complete till you GET A DAMNED STORE!!! :fire:

Does anyone know of a site online that sells what I seek? Remington logo t-shirts and caps. Thanks.

Don't get too upset, man. Life's too short to obsess over inconsequentials.

Little of my attire advertises anything. I do have one green hat with Remington blazoned on the front, it was a freebie from a period of time when I worked for a major sporting goods chain. I wear it fishing more than shooting.

Remington's a corporation. If they thought that they could make money on toggery, they'd turn it out by the trainload. As far as advertising goes, a lot of their line carries a reputation that needs little hype.

There's T shirt makers out there that'll knock out a small run of anything. Why not get some friends together and buy your own design?

off topic, but fits the subject. Anyone else think 870's should be cheaper? I think they are charging a lot for a stamped SG they've been making for a very long time.

Thats actually a good idea Dave, thanks.

As far as 870's being cheaper Zahc, I agree. My guess is that Remington would rather turn a profit on a product that has had a steady demand for decades than outprice the competition. In God we trust? Dont think so. :(

I'd also like to see a better price on the Wingmaster and Police guns, BUT..........

Remington doesn't make a stamped shotgun. All Remington shotguns use a forged and milled receiver, NOT stamped. This includes the Express guns. All Remington receivers come out of the same forge and mill operation. The price difference comes from the lesser finishing of the Express.

The reason Remington's cost more is the forged and milled receiver costs more to make than Mossberg and Winchester's
cheaper to make cast aluminum receivers.

All the despised changes to the mag tube, the plastic trigger group, and the rougher finish of the Express is how Remington is staying competitive with a high-grade steel receiver compared to the cheaper to make aluminum Mossy and Winny.

...well, I do NOT know if it is still in existence or not, but when Mrs. 3-5-7 and I trekked thru the Northeast on vacation back in 1998--and took the factory tour in Ilion--there was a "Factory Store" at the front of the factory proper...you could walk in off the street and buy Remington-logo clothes, etc.--check to see if it is still up and running...I found out about it in that year's catalog, and was able to call them direct a couple of times after our visit to order stuff, altho' that has been three or four years ago now...FWIW....mikey357
